What Do You Put on the Top of Your Christmas Tree?

We got a small tree this year for a couple of reasons. First, it takes up less room which prevents me from rearranging furniture around the scaffold to fit it somewhere. Secondly, my daughter Kate said she wanted a smaller tree so she can get it decorated quicker & easier, & not need the step ladder. (I think that's just her practical & logical way to express lazy....LOL)

When we went to the attic to get the Christmas decorations out, I realized that certain things won't work on a small tree, like the tree stand designed for a 15 footer with a 6" trunk.  ::)  I had to use a bucket with bricks & a couple of giant hose clamps to keep it vertical & anchored.

Next, the ornament for the top that we usually put on it, would probably make the tiny tree look like a lollipop. I asked Kate what she wanted to put on the top & she said she didn't know. I had the box open with the tree top items in the attic, but she didn't see anything she liked & said she'd make something. I then suggested a different box, one with something other the decorations in it.   :D

The box I pulled out a box with my old G.I. Joes from when I was a kid & told Kate she can put a G.I. Joe on top. Well, I said it as a joke, but she loved the idea & made a Santa hat for him so it doesn't lose any of the Christmas Spirit.

This is also the most effective method we have to protect the tree from our stupid cat. The guy stationed at the top as a look out with the searchlight can relay the info to the ground troops located near the tree stand.

That's really cool.   :coolgleamA:

But I bet G.I. Joe can organize a squad to get it out of your tree.

  I think the G.I. Joe with the light colored hair is Chuck's wimpy cousin. Chuck can probably kick his ass.   :smilielol:
