11" bell housing where a 10"1/2" belongs?

I'm swapping a 4sp into my 74 Charger. I bought a 4sp setup from a fellow that said it came from a 69 Cuda. It has an 11" bell housing and my 74 Charger calls for a 10 1/2" bell housing. I've been told that the 11" bell housing will be to large and likely touch the fire wall when banging through the gears. I've had 2 other people tell me that it will fit fine as they have done it with 71 Chargers. I know that 71s and 74s are different in many ways and no one has actually said they have put an 11" bell housing into a 74 Charger. Before I have an "Oh - $#!t" moment, I would like to hear from someone that seen an 11" bell housing in a 73 to 74 Charger. Also, are cast iron bell housings safe for 500 HP?
Thanks.

the Cuda set up is completely wrong for the Charger , you need a long tailshaft version of the trans with dual shifter mounts to put the shifter in the correct place .
either the 11" [143 tooth flywheel] or the smaller 10.95 [130 tooth ] will bolt into the car no problem

The trans has the long tail shaft with the dual mounting pads so I'm ok there. I've been told that I will need the Z-bar and adjuster rod from a 66 to 70 B or E body to make it line up correctly. There's also the hydraulic option for the clutch.
The physical fit of the larger bell housing is what has me nervous. I don't want to have it banging the tunnel.

The z-bar, clutch fork, flywheel, pressure plate are all dependent on the bell housing size (or is all that dependent on the flywheel?). The bell housing *should* fit in the car but the rest is more important. Basically, you can't use a 10 1/2" bell if your flywheel is 11" and all that other stuff has to match (the starter won't meet the flywheel, the z-bar will bee too short/long, the fork will be too short/long, etc.).

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

The bell housing and flywheel are defiantly 11". The bell housing casting number is 2882262 if anybody can ID it.
How safe is the cast iron bell housing? I'll admit that I have zero experience with Chrysler 4 speeds. I have seen the aftermath of some ugly brand X clutch explosions. Currently the motor makes 400HP and 500ft lbs. I'm going to try to bump that up while the motor is out, but likely not over 500hp.

I hope it will since I'm running the same setup in 3 cars! ;)

Honestly, if you're worrying about fragmenting the clutch/flywheel then get a blow proof bell housing. If you drive sensibly and never go to the track then I wouldn't worry about it.

With all of the time and money that I've put into the car, I will drive it for all it's worth. I tend to be hard on my performance cars. If a cast iron bell housing is not up to hard driving, I'll buy a different one.
My present, professionally built motor and trans lasted about 1,000 miles. The converter ballooned and took out the thrust bearing for the crank.(an assumption based on 3/8" crank movement) I am quite disappointed. I'm going get happy with it by building it back stronger, faster and tougher.

Are you sure it's not 2892262?  If it is that is 68 big block B-Body
