My original R/T, bought back in '68 was SS-1 yellow.  When cloning the car of my youth, it had to be the same color.  I',ve always love the pale yellow and it was very popular back in the day.  I've put over 40K miles on it since getting it done in '97, which is more milage than I put on my original one before trading it in.

:2thumbs:

painted mine the original color !!   Y2/SS1    think is an awesome color combo with a black top & interior   :drool5:
back in late 88 when i started looking  for a charger , it had to be an original Y2 car black top & interior    , (( later found out it was coded for a tantop originaly , & still had the tan vinyl under the revel  stainless moulding clips)))

to be honest chargers look awesome   :drool5: in pretty much any   color combo with or with out a vinyl top ,   :popcrn:

I would like to see a pick of your car tan top I would like my next 69 to be either pale yellow or gray. My 69 is Corvette flame red everyone should know why that is.

Mine WILL be (when it is finished) - gloss black with a light coat of an Aussie Ford Falcon colour called Phantom. This Phantom colour is a dark metallic purple and the idea is to give it a "pearl" effect. Still will look blac in the shadows etc, but in the light it will have a purple shine to it. It will also have R/T stripes "ghosted" in that colour. I have even decided that I will go with 15" Magnum 500 rims and will suit this colour.

Why I chose that colour? Not sure, wanted something different
Make it idiot proof, and somebody will make a better idiot!

I went back to the factory T7 Bronze primarily because I was so tired of seeing black, red and silver muscle cars (implying not just Mopars). I love the metallic hues of the 1960s, colors which people easily forget. I miss the champagnes, golds, and bronzes that were so common on the option list. That, and nobody expects a brown Dodge to blow their doors off...

Here's another for you jar.  I like the color a lot, but like any dark color, it's magnetized for dust and dirt collection.  Looks nice in the sun with a more Greenish tint.  In the clouds, a more bluish tint.  One thing I'd suggest in picking a color is to see that color in person if you can.  Driving around when a car cathces my eye, I jot the make/model down and guess the year.  Then go find it on the internet, then go try and find it on the lot.  Lucky for me, right now automakers have nice Blue/Teal selections in their line ups.   I am repainting my 1956 Chevy Nomad right now and I chose Kona Blue, a 2010 Mustang color, and went and saw that color personally on the lot before deciding on it.  That dark blue with a white two-tone should look sharp!  After I'm done with my B5 69 RT/SE, I'm going to build another one like this 69.  But I'm going to do it in the new Aqua Blue Metallic color that GM has.  Maybe tell my paint supplier to add just a teaspoon more Blue to it.  That with white everything should look real sharp.   :2thumbs:

heres a couple  ,  never seem to take good pictures of the car  , only ever seem to take pictures showing specific areas & where  various part  go & stuff ,
will have to take some better ones , when the summer comes
Y2  is a odd color  very susceptible , to changes to light conditions , even though its only a solid color & (& i never painted mine in  base & clear , which different light conditions can do to solid base ,   because of the clear coat ,  ))),  in direct sunlight looks cream 9almost Y3ish  , yet when its over cast gray skies it does look the  pale yellow  a colder shade  yellow has a greenish tint to it  , yet under artificial light looks a mustaredish color

Mine was originally green with a green vinyl top and green interior! But there was nothing original really left when I got it so I went with hemi orange. Originally I wanted to build a General Lee but when the time came I couldn't go completely threw with it so I compromised with my self!

1) My '68 was originally triple green, similar to F3 with a dark green top & interior. This was in the '80's, I was 16, and well... really didn't want a green Charger. So, it was painted PP1 Scorch Red and we changed the top & interior to black. Looking back I don't regret it one bit. In the sun it's bright red, and in the shadows it just looks bloody.  :naughty:  I get lots of comments about the color.

2) The '70 R/T is done just the way it was built: FC7 with a white top, interior, & bumble bee stripe. No way could I deviate from this color combo.

3) Our '69 was originally going to be a "quickie" General Lee. But my wife liked FJ5 Sublime so much, I changed the build plans before ever starting on the car. I couldn't say no, and both she and the kids love the way it turned out.

Finished all new shocks (fronts are fun when working alone....not) and finally off the jacks and started last night!  for Christmas we're hoping Santa brings some new wiring harnesses to play with after the new year!!  :icon_smile_big:   we have a few more details to work on including getting the car to idle at a proper speed, not racing, and then it's off to paint!!   :2thumbs:
