I am gonna build a 541 cubic inch engine with streetable compression with edelbrock or indy ez heads , i wondered if anyone has done this size engine too and what kind of luck you had with it?

the basics are you will have to clearance the block probably run an external oil pick up , you will have a very short piston & may have the oil ring over the piston pin to get it to fit , more of a race combination than a street build but it should work well built properly

yes that sounds about what ive figured out too, doesnt really seem too hard to build.I do work in a machine shop and we build lots of chevy stuff so i need to build something mopar.I dont have a horsepower goal or anything so it will just be what it ends up with. The piston i will use is from Icon with a dish and about an 88 cc. combustion chamber head.Kind of a low rpm race engine, 6000 rpm max...

I'd be interested in the Rod to piston ratio of this engine. Heard it wasn't all that favorable...Like in the 1.4 range.

Too much stroke and not enough rod. tries to push piston out the side of the block.

yeah, i dont know what the rod ratio is, but with any longer stroke you will get more side loading of the piston, especially with a short piston like some long stroke short deck stuff. The rod for this one is a 7.1 inch rod
