Does anyone here have a newer Dodge Magnum wagon? Im in need of an in-between auto besides a work van and a big shiny black dodge. Needs to be AWD, wondering how are they in the snow? Issues? Can't buy new, $15K tops..

I have a '05 R/T. I absolutely love it! No major issues, just a few common problems like worn out tie rods and hood prop shocks but those are notorious with the LX line up. They are cheap enough to replace though. Cant give you an opinion on the snow capability though since I have yet to drive mine in the snow.

My short experience with the LX line:  rented a "Charger" in '08 to consider buying a Magnum or the soon-to-be released Challenger.
No power, seats were SO uncomfortable I got back pains in less than an hour of driving. Cheap interior. Overall lousy car...

Bought Ford and not a complaint since!!

That is funny to me because I had the exact opposite.  My wife's last car was a Ford and I couldn't drive across town without becoming crippled and feeling like I had the hips of a 90 year old.  Her next car was a Dodge and I love the seats in it.

I was told that the 2WD with traction control doesn't give up much to the AWD. I never ended up buying one though (once again, the dealer's tactics pushed me away from Dodge).

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I had an 05 R/T and put the cop rims with Dunlop snow tires on it for our Ontario winters. Not too bad in the snow but the ESP can be a pain in the a$$ especially if trying to go up a hill or overpass in slow traffic. The damn ESP cuts the power so I ended up sliding back down so I trurned it off and feathered the throttle. As for comfort I am 6'3 and it was super comfortable for me. I would go with the AWD from what I've seen and read. Other than it eating links & bushings(3 sets under warranty) I loved that car. my  :Twocents:

I still remember in the winter when we had over a foot of snow on our street and no plows had been out. The BORLA cat back exhaust growling as I fish tailed up the street with the ESP off :D Fun car! That car would lay rubber like no tomorrow with the ESP off of course.

Love mine, bought it a couple years ago & checking NADA the value hasn't dropped.  We took it to California for a soccer tournament & it did great on fuel & was a real nice travel rig.

My only regret was not getting the SRT.  Although now we have the SRT 10 so that makes up for it.   ;)

  similar feelings.. been a great car for me put 80k on my 05 RT (bought used with 20k), never give it any slack, hammer on it all the time, the traction off button is not really off, but not that bad on thin snow, the real issue is they are so low that it high centers easily, decreasing tire traction ultimately.  FWIW, I am leaning towards buying a used 08SRT8 wagon over a 12 SRT8 Challenger...... hate to admit it, they are handy, salty daily driver wagon which drives-stops nice and I like it.

If you're or anyone else is looking, a buddy from SoCalLX is selling his 06 MSRT8 with quite a few mods and recently rebuilt motor for something like $18K. Ive seen that car and it's worth every penny. KILLER deal:

I've got an '06 Magnum SRT8 - bullet proof and always dealer serviced with 60,+++ miles on the clock currently for sale in Northern California. It's covered via full bumper to bumper warranty up to 70,000 miles or July of 2013. Only modifications are a K&N drop in air filter and updated SRT8 wheels off of a 2010 SRT8 Challenger.

Price - $19k

As far as snow - if you have good tires such as a nice set of Blizzaks or Contintenal DWS's you'll be absolutely fine - trust me... i know.
