Yesteday, a post was put requesting people e-mail a radio staion in Detroit to convince them to consider a Charger as a charity giveaway car.  The Charger has been selected as a finalist and it's up against some Chevy's and panel trucks for the final vote.  If you click on this link, you can vote for the Charger.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Thanks.  I thought I did but I never went back and checked.  You voted too, right????????

This 66 is a father & son project my father and I have been working on for 2 years. But I have a 67, and he has a 66 in mid restoration, so we think this 66 would serve better as the Stone Soup Project car.

The pictures on the site are not the actual cars..... BUT

If anyone wants to see pictures of the 66 to be donated, please email me at allen.ward@66-67charger.com

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Dodge-Charger

Done,

is it just my eyes or could they have found a better pic to show a 66 Charger ? Maybe Im looking at it wrong. I know its not the actual cars but aint it the wrong year?

XP29F61

With all the cars, they hit Google images and picked the first picture that wasn't copywrited. It is the right year, just a bad shot that makes it look like a big blob of black.

i voted...looks like the dodge charger, and 47 dodge truck are in the lead    :icon_smile_cool:
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Thanks for helping out. I am working 12 hour shifts & did not get time to keeps the guys informed on how it was going. Thing is I was told that the other vote was the finial vote oh well.

Ghoste

That's what I thought too.  Apparently that was a semifinal or something.  If it helps, their plan with the 47 Dodge truck is to go with some kind of boogered up thing that has a Ford chassis and running gear with a Chevy drivetrain.
At least the Charger would be all Mopar.

Big Lebowski

I voted for the very fine Dodge, and it's still in 1st place.

Problem was, they had over 20 cars offered. So they decided to take an email vote for the top 5. My 66 took 1st place in the top 5. Now we're into the "finals" I guess.

The good news is, if you wait a few hours, it will let you vote again!! I usually have to wait 3 or 4 hours before it will work. But I think I've voted over 20 times already.

Voted, and sent the link to my senior management at DCX requesting they open up the firewall to let all our employees vote from work...

There are 15,000 people at the DCX headquarters in Auburn Hills alone!  And another 125,000 throughout the US...

Ghoste

Man, you're the king!  You just know at DCX headquarters they don't want to see that Dodge truck get boogered up with parts from the X brands!

69Charger500

Yeah,

Even though it's a Dodge (the truck), I just can't picture it generating anywhere near the attention (and charity dollars) of the '66 Charger.  Those 1st gens are some awesome looking cars, especially when given the proper "treatment," like a 528 Crate Hemi and a bunch of other "go-fast" goodies.  I'd pick black exterior paint, and maybe even flame it a little (subtle, though)!

Mike

Ghoste

I'd hate to pull a "me too" but it'd be neat to go the route the "Big Fish" 66 Charger is and put a new style Crate Hemi in there with efi and coil on plug and all that.

Here are 2 galleries of Christine, if that's what you wanted to see.

This one is pics from when I first bought her and some fairly recent pics after body work and primer
http://66-67charger.com/v-web/gallery/Christine

This one is the most recent pics. She's a runner, just needs front brakes.
http://66-67charger.com/v-web/gallery/Christine-For-Sale

She's got the original 318 Poly, Small Block 727 auto, and the stock "741" small pinion 8 3/4 rear end with 2.94 open gears.
I just finnished rebuilding the entire electrical system, so everything but the gauge lighting works.

Christine, the car mentioned in the post above is the one that has been offered for donation.  Big Fish is the red 66 Charger (or rather one of the ones they used) that was used in the movie Big Fish.  It is currently in Detroit undergoing a resto-mod.
I think your own Greg Rose at the tech center has the inside skinny on the progress with the Big Fish Charger.

Big Fish...

But let's see the other one too, so we can start rooting around for parts for it to donate...

Body wise, she needs rear quarters, both full length floor pans, and frame caps where the torsion bar cross member meets the rocker and front frame rails. I'm donating a used rust free right front fender I got off ebay.

Interior needs the sail panels sanded and repainted, and seat foam for all the seats. I'm donating the set of 4 Perl white seat covers from legendary that I bought, and the new floor carpet I got. She could also use a new console top plate since the previous owner mounted 2 gauges in it.

All the chrome and trim is still with the car, just not installed. Same with the missing interior panels. OH, and she needs the spare tire board and trunk carpet.

I think that's about it.

You're right there is something funny going on there.  With all the people plugging for this car it seems to go up ever so slightly in percentage and the truck they want to booger up can rise 6 points in an hour???

DC_1

I voted again.......be nice if they showed the total number of votes.......

XP29F61

The voting is still running!

When DCX opened the firewall for employees to vote, the Plymouth Truck plant exploded the votes for the Dodge Truck, so we need to really kick it in for the Charger!!

voted for the Charger, seems that the two dodges are a lock for the top spot, just depends on which one it winds up being.

Which would be okay if they weren't committed to hot rodding the truck with a Chevy drivetrain.

Hmm.

This morning[Monday] we're suddenly up 1% ??? Keep up the voting for now.

69Charger500

Well the Charger is ahead by a few percent.  I would be suprised if the folks down at JTE (PROC or Plymouth Road) would be able to move the needle on the truck, and if so, why?

I don't think there are more than a handful of people I know around there that would even recognize that '47.  Everybody knows the Charger!

It does smell funny to me, since there are many more CEMA members with vintage Mopar Muscle Cars, as opposed to hot rodded-out old pick-up trucks.  The DCX firewall opening up should have moved the Charger way out front...

Big Sugar

We're up 3% now !! a little more support is all we need to keep the Charger out front.

Well, since WCSX has determined there was foul play in the voting, they just chose to do the truck. Just up and chose to do the truck.

I wish them luck with it. They just pissed off a lot of listeners.

How did that happen?

69Charger500

Sounds like they just wanted to do the truck no matter what...

By the way, what was the foul play, and how did they determine it??

69Charger500

We should build the Charger anyway, make it ten times as cool as the truck, and raffle it off at the Mopar section of the Woodward Cruise for the same charity.  Not to spite them, but to show what the real enthusiasts wanted, and how much more money it could generate for the charity.

They just get people like us to donate the parts for the car anyway, and the money and services.  Bet I could get Mopar Performance to donate a 528 Crate Hemi...

Steve P.

How bout getting them to donate a 528 to me. I am also needy...

I think as long as it keeps taking votes, keep voting for the Charger.. It has to tell them something...
