Anyone know what this is?

When I was chasing out an electrical proplem with the horn on my 73 Charger I noticed this thing under the dash (kind of behind the radio). With the ignition on it was fairly warm to touch. Anyone know what it is or if it should get warm?

Thanks

Dan

looks like a time delay relay for an ignition switch  light  ,   needs replacing  if you can feel it getting hot or warm   :yesnod:

opps should of explained properly  sorry for the confusion my bad :slap:

if hot all the  time needs replacing  ,  as the bi'metallic strip has stuck ( could cause fire)
how  it works  ,  the  metal strip inside makes a contact when its cold ( no amps going through it )  soon as the door is opened  power goes to bulb , it illuminates for 20 seconds give or take  , which in that time, it will  heat up the bi bi'metallic strip in the timer relay  & it bends after a x amount of time  , braking the circut  ,  cuts power  to the  bulb
or it works the oppsite way round  , but something along them lines ! , if your going to keep the door ope a really long time , best to disconect the relay, i'm sure there is a more technical way to explain it  :yesnod:

Thanks guys that explains why it was warm. I had the door open with my legs hanging out while I had me head up under the dash.
