It has been six years since the bumpers were on my Charger. I am in the reassembly stage and just got my original bumpers and bumperettes back from the chrome shop. While mounting the bumper I cannot see where the lower part of the bumperette attaches to. My bodyshop removed them and the car has had a new rear valance installed. Any specific picture are greatly appreciated as I would love to finish installing them this weekend and have looked for hours to just get a picture of what might be missing.

Fred

Here you go.
First pic is of rear.................second & third are of front

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

Thanks for the pictures. In doing more research I believe the problem is that I am missing a bracket that attached to the frame rail and has the point to bolt the bottom of the bumperette into. Unfortunately I am missing them and am not able to find any to replace them if that is the case. I hate to ask again, but can someone show a detailed picture of what the bracket is and where it mounts, and second, does anyone have a set of those brackets they would sell? I spent several hours last night looking for a good picture of this set up and had a hard time finding what I needed. I appreciate the help. Right when you think something is going to go easy it doesn't.

Here are the brackets that mount to the rear of the frame and the rear bumperettes attach to. Does anyone know if these are reproduced or does anyone have a set for sale. I have looked and am not seeing them anywhere.

All 68, 69, & 70's have them I believe. Mine(68) are a total nightmare and I would replace them with repros in a second. Nobody makes them not even AMD. I've seen a couple of used sets before but they are just a useless as the ones i have. I'd love to be able to get a nice set of em if they were out there.

Theres a bracket for those? :shruggy: Ok then I guess that's another part I will have to add to the list of thing to get.

What's the purpose of this thingy? :scratchchin:
What's it called?

Thanks Patrick

Here's the good news. I found a perfect set from a friend of mine in Texas for a $100.00. When you don't have them and need them it sounds like a screaming deal to me. I believe they might be called "rear bumper guard support brackets". I googled them that way and looked under images and there they were. Of course not for sale!

It sounds to me like there are many people who need these as they were a rot out item and every time I looked under a Charger locally the bottom of the bumperettes were attached to nothing. The rear chrome tip brackets bolt on to these as well. I have spent hours looking to see if these are reproduced and if no one here knows then they are not. They are a stamped part and not something that could be made at home easily. I would think if there is enough demand that AMD should consider this as item to reproduce. Any thoughts on that?

I'm looking at the parts catalog and there not picture and I also was looking in the shop manual and didn't see them there. In the list of parts there were a few brackets listed. But I figure it just bolted to the rear cross member. :shruggy: Go figure.

PatrickPeeters

Yes bolts the rear framerail (bothside) just behind the rear lower valance.
The original exhausthanger is almost in the same place on the framerail. :yesnod:
