I dont drink as much as I use to, I still have a few when I get home from work. I cant take hangovers like I use to so now whenever I get into one of those drinkathon moods I try to squeez a glass of water in between every 3 or 4 beers. Seems to work miracles for the headache the next morning.

Telvis

I almost never drink anymore. However my wife decided to invite a few friends over last night. I ended up drinking quite a bit of Makers Mark. I am Paying for it today.......It will be quite a while before I do that again.

BigBlockSam

i don't drink that often anymore either. man! the hang overs hurt. plus they take 2 days to go away. it all falls into the category of.   it's a bitch getting older

We drink water in Carolina

Old Moparz

Had 3 or 4 Beck's Octoberfest last night with a nice juicy burger off the grille, some homemade pasta salad & some "Kruncher's" jalepeno chips. (MMMMM, I'm hungry again.) It was great having an empty house so I could crank the stereo & have the mute on the TV. I flipped around until I saw the video channel "IMF" with Indian, or other eastern eye candy, pop stars. (You have to see it to understand.) They'll rival most women here in the good looks department.

Aside from that, & while we're on the drinking subject, I got this old bottle of Jim Beam that was never opened. My father's neighbor works in a liquor store, found it in the basement & gave it to my father. My father knows I like bourbon, so he gave it to me. The tax label is still on it & not torn, but I don't know if old booze is collectible or not. If it's worth something, I'll sell it for car parts, but if it's not, I'll bring it to Carlisle.  :D

Anyone ever see this one? It has a slanted bottom so it'll either stand upright or at a slight angle. There's a special offer tag hanging on it that says you can order 4 shot glasses, but the offer expires October 1, 1970.

There's also some kind of coating on the bottle, like gold leaf on a picture frame. I know it's not dirt or crud, so I'm guessing a thin plastic? It's peeling at the bottom, but most is still okay.

I don't drink either, in fact, no more Jonny Walker or Jack Daniels for me, these days I stick with Bill W.,

That bottle looks pretty cool, however the guy on the front looks like he's already polished off one. ;D
I bet you could look around eGouge & find what something like that's worth.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Hey Charger Fan,

I was doing some Google searches last night, (now the government knows I did too) & found a forum devoted to collecting Jim Beam decanters. Too much detail on other stuff, like how alcohol will eat the inside of a porcelin decanter & such, so I got bored & went to look for parts on ebay.

Maybe I'll just save it & wait for a big DC.com meet to crack it open & share.

Shakey

You got me thinkin' about some of the bottles I have stashed Bob.

The Johnny Walker Red & Black are from the late '60's or early '70's.  This I can't prove but I am guessing because they were with the other gems.  The same has to be said about the Old Suntory Japanese whiskey.

The Black Velvet is from 1967.
The Gibsons is from 1966.

All of the above are unopened.

The Crown Royal is from 1974.  I opened this one when my Daughter was born in February 2004.

Old Moparz

Hey Shakey,

That's quite a few bottles you have, now we'll need a new thread started about unopened booze & see how far back everyone can go to find the oldest. Except Charger Fan, his stuff can't be more than a few hours old at most. :icon_smile_big:

I have a pic, but not on the computer anymore, of a Pabst Blue Ribbon 6 pack, unopened from 1965. The cans are not aluminum, they have the seam running down the side, & a pull tab that pulls off the can completely. The only reason I know how old they are, is that my father said he bought them on my sister's 1st birthday but never got around to opening them. They sat on a shelf behind his bar & I recall them from when I was a kid. When he moved, they ended up in a box of my junk like all the other crap I have. This I couldn't toss, so I'll have to put it on a shelf to display it.

I sure as hell wouldn't drink it, 40 year old Pabst Blue Ribbon probably tastes pretty nasty. Well at least not any worse than when it was new.  :D

some old bottles, even unopened lose the alcohol. i had a bottle of whiskey unopened from 1956. it was smooth going down but had no affect on me and my buddy. Rene

That's for sure! If that Crown was in my posession, once the lid is cracked, I'd have it gone friggin' FAST! There wouldn't be even any odor left in the bottle. ;D

Just to show I do have some form of self control, I've got a mini-bottle collection that I haven't opened any of...and a bottle of wine of some sort that we got from our lender when we bought our house 6 years ago. The plan is to crack it open when & if we get another house...although I did almost kill it about a month ago. :drool5:
