Well, thats been quite a while in the garage, I got the wiring and brakes finally sorted and took it in for the road worthy inspection and compilance about a month ago.
It got knocked back on upper and lower bushes, pitman arm, idler arm and ball joints were shot too so I put a kit through the front end, bit of a mission, I had'nt done one before. Finished it on Monday night. Had to make up some pvc/ hard plastic bushes to retain the console lights and take the slop out of the shifter rod where it locates with the one from the trans, bit of a mission
Got a few tips off here in the tech section, Thanks D.C.com  guys   :2thumbs:

Got it off to a mates shop for alignment then over to inspection place, it went through fine and is all legal now,  I trailered it home and went out for a cruise late yesterday to see how she went , Man did it get some looks and comments at the lights , the lsd seems to work fine too  :icon_smile_big:

Next up is to put the interior back in it this weekend and put a couple of tanks of gas through it  :boogie:

Thanks Guys, much appreciated, its been a mission getting it sorted. I'd really struggle with the length of a project like bull's or the Frenchman's 5 year odyssey, been to a few too many funerals in the last few years, the time is shortening up, my Father checked out early at 63,  got to fit the fun stuff in, these are the days we will look back on when we are old.

Got to look at a small job to do at a car guy friend's  house about an hour's drive away this morning, looking forward to the drive

Also, the odometer tipped over the 100,000 mile mark as I was in the passing lane fanging it, so now its brand new again

Called into a mates panelshop, caught up with the guys, couple of beers and talked cars then later on I took my Daughter for a cruise over to the bro-in-law's, pretty successfull day really

Yep, Good Dude and genuine car guy too. Kept in touch before, during and after and kept his word on the deal and made himself available to assist with inspection and transport, cant ask for better than that.
He is a member here as well but does'nt post much.

It originally came from CA back about 8 years ago and had been QQ1 so I was hoping someone might have recognised it or had some history on it - bit of a long shot though...

Probably about time for a update of sorts and a few pics

Every now and then, guys are finding stuff in their cars from the assembly guys at the factory having a laugh along the way, same here as it turns out. I was putting the wiring in for the rear stoplight and future speakers a little while ago and saw a round piece of metal covered in the black underseal in the drivers side corner under the rear seat. Had a bit of a dig and pulled out a Canadian 5c from 1965 . Since Hamtramck was only a few miles from the border I'm guessing its some long gone Canadian auto worker putting his stamp on something built in the USA

I cleaned it up and showed my Wife and daughter and then siliconed it back into place, figuring since its been in there from day one then I'm not going to chance my arm and remove it now, = bad mojo    :scratchchin:
There was also another coin down inside the passengers rear 1/4, this one is a 1988 Canadian 25c with the moose on, probably some kid ''posting'' it down the window slot.

Also caught up with a friend of mine who has an Australian Chrysler VH Valiant Hardtop, nice car too.
It has a t/r stroked 440 500 cube pushing out close to 600 hp. It would be fair to say it is traction challenged with all that up front in an A Body. Also got NOS plumbed but not connected yet. It would need slicks to get a decent 1/4 as it just hoses the bags at the moment.

Did a short clip of the cars if anyone is interested

Was amazed they were still there actually mate, only had a look on their website on the offchance, thought they'd be well snapped by now. Bit of a hurt though, the personalised plates outfit stiffs you hard for them , 6 hundy!  :o
Still, its a one off, I told myself as the import and repair costs spiraled upwards  :eek2:
The plan is to get some black and gold California plates from USA to replace them with when things settle down a bit. But, because they are not "prescribed colours" by Land Transport some of the cops take a dim view of it. See what happens I suppose
Old Dog, Old Tricks.

Fred

Yes I know custom plates don't come cheap. I've got them on all my cars though.
How come yours don't have your state written on them?
And how is it that they've come with the "Bullit Charger" "Buy American or Die" inscription? That's not an option we have here.

Just cause we're too small to have states  :smilielol: most likely why it got called North Island and South Island, inventive eh - thats us Kiwis
The script they put on is included in the price, bit of a piss take, is the mantra of The Villains, loose association of car guys that knock around a bit .We stay up at the big car n hot rod festival in Kumeu every year, google it, its pretty cool. You should pop over for it Fred, its a blast
