Yep, I have seen them before.  I have a set like them (generic brand though, but for Mopars) that I got at an auction at an old auto parts store in a lot for $1.  It is a late 50s-early 60s fad from best I can tell.  The cars back then were so massive that they tended to scrape along curbs, so this was invented to prevent that from occurring.  If you watch the movie Cars, the sheriff car has them on it.....

Somewhere out there is a 4-door Charger that is just screamin' for these things.  :yesnod:

Your kidding.....right? I remember them back in the 60's and 70's. All the brothers used them when they had the big white walls. You probably never seen the static straps then either. :shruggy:

Man them's some wayback memories!

There's a 39 LaSalle around here with feelers-they seem appropriate.

:slap: What I mean is I didn't know MOPAR curb feelers existed. I know about curb feelers but I thought they were just a no-name aftermarket creation.

I think there's a law that you need to be 75+ & have to have curb signals/feelers on you car/truck....

I checked on eBay and yeah they still sell static straps. I remember when I was a kid all the brothers used them. One actually told me it was to keep their afro"s from arcing on the headliner.  :smilielol: Probably just messing with me. I figured they quit selling them by now since most seats recline all the way back.  I'm not sure the exact reason but I remember getting. A static shock when touchimg things in my car back when.

I always thought it was to ground the car out for better radio reception but the shock thing makes sense too.  They were just a strap that you bolted on your car maybe 2 inches wide and a foot or so long jar, thy had a metal strip in them and I've always wondered what would happen if you had them on a car near a lightning strike.

Those strips should be a requirement for women drivers'.  I swear, every time I stop to get gas they put the nozzle in & go sit in the car.   :rotz:

Not only are they available, but these are REPROS!!  ;)
What's even funnier still, is that they came up in my Charger parts search!

Help me out. So they just bolt to the car and drag on the ground?   :shruggy:
