Hey Guys, Anyone ever run into this? I bought a new radiator from Wizard Cooling. Got it in and now the fan and fan clutch wont fit back in. I think I can prob bolt them onto the pulley but the fan clutch will be touching the radiator. I think there should be at least an inch of clearance there. There is about 3 1/4 inches from the radiator to the pulley. I know the car was wrecked in the past and I dont think everything was put back straight. I am also having an issue where part of my new Doug's Headers are touching the steering box. Anybody?

Just go to NAPA and look for a clutch with a shorter snout-I think the one listed for Jaguar is only about 2.5" overall length.

No surprise headers touching steering box, my Hookers are very close to the steering and contact other things in about 4 places.

It sounds like you got a "new" clutch that is wrong for the car. For some reason the parts stores want to sell a clutch that has a longer shaft causing the fan to hit the radiator. Go to NAPA and get part number 261306. See these threads.

The rad is probably a lot thicker than a factory one as well.

jdiesel33

Yeah, it is definitely thicker. I didnt think it was a lot thicker though, but maybe so. I suppose I should just go ahead and spring for the electric fan, but wasnt planning on doing that until later b/c of the expense. I guess I will just see if I can find a lower profile clutch and then if all else fails, go electric sooner than I wanted to. Damn this stuff gets $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!

Happens everytime someone installs an aftermarket aluminum radiator. Been there, done that myself.

Jaguar clutch is the fix.

When you say Jaguar one, is that the brand or the fan clutch that goes on a Jaguar? If on a Jaguar, what year Jaguar would I need to ask for? Happen to have part number?

Not sure if the hayden 2765 will work either. Looked up specs on the Hayden website. Right now I have the 2747 which has an overall height of 3.34". The 2765 has an overall height of 2.67". That is only a difference of .67". Tha means the space between fan clutch and radiator will be about .67". That isnt near enough is it? Doesnt it need to be 1" minimum?

3/4" is fine as long as you've got good motor mounts. Much further and the thermostat doesn't work very well.
