an Alfa and a Neon got sex and this is the result

So your saying a gorgeous Italian woman slept with a nerdy bug eyed american.... props to the neon for living all of our fantasies!

Provided you can equate the Alfa to a gorgeous Italian woman.  Some of us might see a short not so attractive woman with an accent and a lot of demands.

I'm still waiting for some decent photos of the new Dart, but the glimpse of it seems okay.

In the meantime, here's a gorgeous Italian woman.   :D

I look at her and see far more Lamborghini than Alfa.

Here comes another group of purists getting their panties bunches up over a badge on a little tin box that has nothing to do with the classic car. Who cares what it's called, just as long as it sells well enough to keeps Mopar/Fiat afloat.

Good point, all true.  With the general shape I think I see .. .. following fiat little bubble, modern econ boxes etc it will likely flop like the GTO.  Reluctantly admitting here, but I am not a huge fan of the new Chargers either frankly but at least they have some muscle edges and trends to the old Charger coke bottle (sorta).

and at least an engine (Hemi) to back up a little of the muscle.

Got to see this new Dart today. It's sitting at our shop. I dont think it's to bad looking. I like the new Black Super Bee Chargers & Yellow Jacket Challengers. Got a few of those sitting around with the 6.4 Hemi & they are nice. LEON.

I was excited at first, then disappointed, then pissed off

Now I'm okay with it.  The Caliber never should have been made and didn't deliver like the Neon SRT-4, which was a great package.  We really need the econobox with cheap insurance, high mpg, and a little class to it in order to have that k-car margin that can keep profits up.

I look at this as would I take it over a corolla or civic and the answer is yes.

I still feel like it is a reach putting "Dart" on the car.  I don't see many A-body fans rushing out to buy the car, and I don't see anyone looking for a "new low buck, high mpg" car thinking, cool...it is just like my 67, or frankly even having an image come to wind when they hear "Dodge Dart."  I think a name would have done better, but that is just me.

That said, the Dart had humble beginnings, always had the low-buck, fuel efficient option and wound up legendary due to the Swinger 340, GTS, and of course that primered piece cranked out in 68.

I will give this one a chance...I'd like to see what SRT can do for it and if I had the time and money I'd be the first idiot to rework the whole car just for the sake of having a 392 in it  :icon_smile_big:

It is a shame the corporate history buffs didn't dig another 3 seconds to avoid the R/T label on the Dart, but oh well...it is just a sign of the times.

I have gotten to a point where I don't really relate the new and old cars together.  That can keep me happy about the current state of affairs and less ticked off about tarnishing the past frome time-to-time.

The "old Dart" was a long-tenured jack of all trades and I will be watching to see if this new euro-inspired Dart can live up to the legend.  Would be nice if it could develop into an AWD platform with performance similar to the evo/wrx etc.

They are sure building up the unveiling though...

Very cool you've seen it and the new Yellow Jacket Leon!

Jalopnik released pics today...     I kinda like the look.    I'm not hung up on the name...  although I wouldn't have called it a Dart either  :Twocents:

I looked down the sides of them.... MAN-O-MAN your paintwork was beautiful!:yesnod:

Please, please, do the exact same for me someday.  :drool5:

Got to drive a new 2013 Dodge Dart GTS Turbo car today. Got a carbon fiber hood. Not sure of the Horsepower rating :o  LEON.

God, Thats hideous looks like a Mitsubishi, Neon and a Charger had a 3 way! I will take my 72 Dart Swinger over that turd any day!!
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

71charger_fan

I like it and am already considering adding a 2014 R/T or SRT-4 to the fleet, possibly as a replacement for my Neon R/T.

Ghoste

I'm not a hater but I don't know that it would be the right car for me either.  All the same I hope they sell a million of them.

Thats a cool honda civic sedan...honda has always made fuel efficient cars some kids these days throw turbos on those things and get 300HP daily drivers out of them etc.....Pretty fast for 2500lbs also with that much HP and they have like 1.8L or something like that......
