Hey guys -

There is a guy on ebay pimping out a vinyl decal kits using my car in the add (my stripe is paint!). Anyway I called him and he said that the car was a customer of his... hmmm... I told him it was MY car and take the pic down, so I guess we'll see what happens. I already reported him to ebay.

Did the guy you bought your car from buy the stripe from this guy?

He said that his stripe is paint.  I think that is the crappy part of this guy using a pic of his car.

I would say that it's looks like the north shore of Long Island, NY.

That's kind of ballsy in my opinion, but then again it's a compliment on the looks of your car and it's probably done more often than you think. Did'nt they do that to Chris's (Just6T9) Charger too?

First off there might be two problems legally with this. If he States that the car in his pic has "HIS" stripe on it and it doesn't, THat is a misrepresentation. If he says it is a similar stripe to that one, then there is no big deal. Second, The picture is the property, not the car. The car is the subject of the picture. If I take a picture of your car I can post my picture anywhere I want as long as I am not defrauding someone, (ie. Saying it is my car, or "I am selling this car for a buy it now price of $5") If it is a picture that you took and posted on the net, than it is your property and he should have gotten permission in writing form the owner of the photo in order to post it.

they were using it for wall clocks, I believe. And some guy on CarDomain was claiming it was his car.

The that is I pic that I took of the car over the summer - my biggest problem, I just think the ebay is very misleading since the stripe on my car is in fact paint under ALOT of clear coat, and not a detail... people should be aware of this.

Just burns me up...  :flame:

that is messed up.  that is misrepresentation as all get out.  i hope something happens to them, i just do not know what exactly could happen to them ya know.

apparently from what i understand this picture stealing happens all the time,and not just with cars or parts but anything on ebay.my son had someone hijack a picture of an atv exhaust he sold on ebay,the very same day!!!!! now that takes @#lls. this led to the buyer calling my son thinking that he had been scamed.i was thinking the guy who bought it was trying to flip it before he even had it in hand.in the end we contacted the picture stealer and he put his own picture up.bottom line is if i buy something i want it to be what is shown,not something simular.

I wouldnt get mad over someone using pics of my car. Of course if i were starving and that someone was making big profits ...i would let them know I need some dough

Yeah my car has been used on clocks and posters on ebay....all without my permission originally.

I called the seller on it and they were more than happy to compensate me with free products that they are selling.

No big deal to me.  If anything I am flattered but you have to gve credit where credit is due IMHO
