Found this in a shed 1970 charger 500, factory power sunroof and hurst 4 speed take a look..70 charger owners chim in...I believe this is one of 54 power sunroof cars made in a charger 500 for that year??  This car is in great shape no dents and very very little rust...missing very minor things...What do you think would be a fair offer??? Been sitting for 15 years.

I wouldn't even think about offering less than 10K. If the person has any idea what they have low balling is the best way to be told to hit the bricks. So if it where me I would shoot 10K out for an offer. That is high enough where I don't think they would get pissed & a reasonable amount if they accepted. Others will disagree.

Thats a rare and desireable car.

What is the original color?

I'd confirm the options are original to the car...

Confirm there is little rust under that yellow paint job...

Start at $10,000 and be prepared to go higher...

Take cash, and a trailer.

Now, I thought in 1970 you could not order a 4-speed with A/C, that the only option if you wanted A/C was to get the torqueFlite (in '68 and '69 with only a 383 4-bbl could you order the 4-speed).  Is there a fender tag or buildsheet available? Post 'em if you have them, along with more photos (again, if you have them). Nice car.

383/400 with four speed and A/C was always available in 64-74 B bodies.

It has a thumb wheel radio. Not shure maybe im wrong Most 70 chargers ive seen have a 2 knob. And doesnt  all 1970's have wood grain dash inserts . Would that make it a early 1970 or ?.. Great car give it a good cleaning and see what it looks like.

So, the fender tag on this '70 Charger should have the D21 and H51 codes on the fender tag? I'll keep a lookout for that combination.  :icon_smile_wink:

Thumbwheel is definately wrong - only thumbwheel for 1970 was the 8-track, all the others had two round knobs (1970 only style). Woodgrain was only available (and standard) on SE and R/T cars - the current dash is correct.

The radio is an 8-track one. Great car great find. :2thumbs:

Great find Buddy  :drool5: , Nice looking Charger ,  depends on what sort of overall condition of the car including the floors/trunk and general motor/trim etc. I'd probably start at 10k not trying to insult the guy but a fair realistic offer, and go up towards 15ish, depends on how bad you want it and whether you can afford it or make it fit , just like everything else

All 70 are NOT wood-grain dash. Good find check # look for rot around rear window and trunk. 500's are a trim option only for 70.  :2thumbs:

I'm not sure what a '70 is worth these days but that's a pretty rare find.  I would not be surprised if he wants a bit more than $10K.

A local customer just paid near $10k for a lot less car than that. I'd think that $15k is a more reasonable starting place.

Everything about the car looks correct, even the radio. Have a picture of the fender tag? Maybe it's a 500 with the SE package? a 4-speed coupled with a 383 would allow for a/c...

Going from the picture of the dash, as others have said, it does not have the SE trim package.  (My old 70 500 SE had the woodgrain dash with the same 8-track radio.)  Still, this is a rare 500 with the 4-speed and a sunroof, not to mention the other options.  It needs to be brought back....

Here is a shot of the engine 383 4 barrel....You can see the original color.  The guy was going to restore this with his son but never happened...I restored a 69 charger and know the in and outs of this body style and I tell you this is in pretty darn good condition!!  The plymouth was sold as I had found it...didn't have the time to start a new project with a new baby and just bought a new home but I still have my 69 that I will not ever sell...my daughter who is 4 now loves that car....she goes to every car show with me....This is her winning best of show...I'm so proud of her...but anyway.  I'm ready for a new project and this looks like a good one to start.  Haven't been in the charger restoration seen in awhile so didn't know what they were bringing or what this might be worth. Oh and from the research I have done this would have been a vinyl top car because of the sunroof you can see it has the trim for a vinyl top??

Dino

Looks like a 440 to me by the way that passenger side valve cover looks in relation to the distributor.

Ok, I must be color deaf.....

I saw purple and assumed.  Been doing a lot of that lately...assuming that is, not seeing purple.

So you couldn't get a burnt orange interior with a plum crazy exterior?  It may look a bit funky but I've seen worse!

That's a cool find, except for the fact that some of the previous owners were completely lost or color blind when it came to choosing repaint colors to go with the interior.

Yes according to the Chrysler SG-30 Sales Reports only 54 big block 70 Charger 500s came with a power sunroof. Looks like they left the vinyl top off after the repaint.

Really depends on condition of car but $10k would be a deal.

I can't believe cars like this are still out there to be found and bought! You would think by now that all the good ones have been rescued. I have my 69 Charger and love it, but still dream of the day when I pull up to a farm and find that rare Mopar hiding in the barn with an inch of dust lying on it. Great find, hope you get it.
