QuoteMELBOURNE, Australia, 24 November, 2011
More than 80 years of Ford history in Australia has found a safe new home.
Ford Australia President and CEO, Bob Graziano, opened the Ford Australia Archives this week at the company's head office in Campbellfield, Melbourne.
Graziano dedicated the centre to the late Adrian Ryan, who was instrumental in collecting many Ford documents, photos and brochures and storing them for safekeeping. Ryan worked for many years in Ford's Public Affairs department.
The collection includes historically important Ford documents and photos dating from the company's early manufacturing days in Australia. It is believed to be one of the most comprehensive archives of motor manufacturing in the region.
The Ford Australia Archives is one of only four historical archives in the entire Ford Motor Company.
"The others are in Dearborn in the United States, Cologne in Germany and the UK," Graziano said.
"A lot of work has gone into the establishment of these archives over many years and we are very pleased that the collection is now housed in a manner that will allow us to ensure it survives for some time to come.

Cool pics and link aussiemuscle  :2thumbs: I really like seeing the old ''assembly line " stuff
The "Hey Charger" book has got some really cool Chrysler pics from back in the day.

I did a short couple of shutdowns when I was an apprentice electrician around 23 years ago at the Ford/Mazda plant over here.
What an eye opener seeing the Lasers/323 being assembled and dip painted , robots welding, QA techs inspecting and finished cars being assembled and the acres of cars outside awaiting transport to dealers yards
There was also falcons there but I cant remember if they were ckd ex Australia or knocked together there, it all got closed in the early 90's same with the Honda plant in Auckland and the Toyota plant in Thames. There are now no local assembly or manufacturer plants here now, everthing is imported

The ION alloy wheel plant was next door, but that was many years later, the wheels they made were all exported to Ford Australia. They also made the Harley Davidson Fat Boy disc wheels there, I decomissioned a few of the machines when the plant shut down and got broken up and sold off.
Old Dog, Old Tricks.
