I am detailing my jack soon.

I remember reading to use primer on the mechanism. Which brand was it?

Also, is Eastwood Detail Gray used for the leg or ?

Thanks

Yes I used light grey primer for the mechanism and used some clear over it.  I used this for the base as well.

For the life of me I cant remember which paint I used for the post.   I know it was a silverish color..... :-\

That silver looks really close to the Argent Silver.

It looks like your tire iron is a satin black or is it semi black?

I have some argent silver but my detail gray is gone. The detail gray gives a nice bare steel look.

I used satin for the iron......also take note of the way the spring is mounted.  As per the jacking inst decal & the owners manual

I have one out of a parts car that I will be using.

I can get you a pic tommorow. It is probably 3/4" by 3" and resembles scotchbrite but, not abrasive.

For the silver I used Eastwood's Aluminum Blast, for the mechanisim I used Ford Tractor Gray and the handle got semi-gloss black.  For the protector I used a piece of window channel felt.   I looked like the original piece in my car.

Here are some shots of the felt pad and one of it in my '69.

I don't have it permanently installed so the edges need to be folded over.

Chris,

I got my jack detailed and installed last night. Then I looked at your eBay auction and you had me all confused for a second with the old picture of your trunk....until I checked your new picture here.   ;)

Thanks for the info on detailing the jack.  I've had all the pieces in my Eastwood sandblaster for over a week and have been working on it a little at a time.  There are so many different layers of paint it isn't funny.  I have a wonderful blaster now, but my humble air compressor will only run it 2-3 minutes at a time before waiting 4-5 minutes to refill the 25 gallon tank to 175psi.  How much airflow do I need?!  I'm looking at an 80gallon with 26cfm @ 90 psi.  I hope this is enough.

Every picture I see of Chris's Charger impresses me with his strict attention to detail.  I just wish he'd tell me why he's selling his car on eBay??

Anyone know where I can get one of those nifty springs for the jack mechanism???  Mine has the wrong spring, and I'm almost done restoring the jack.

My mechanism is in horrible shape with rust and pitting.  I sandblasted most of it yesterday, and it was already rusting again with a dark colored rust this morning!!!

I got mine from Mega Parts. They are a local Mopar supplier I buy a lot of stuff from. I would think any of the big resto dealers would sell them. Year One, Paddock, Jack's, or Hardens.
