400 rocker arms...Comp Cams or Harlan Sharp?

I'm in the market for a set of rocker arms and looking for advise.  I have a mild 400 with 906 heads.  The heads have been worked on so I want to keep them and use them with a stroker combo in the future.  The heads have been milled and I am thinking I need an adjustable set of rockers to keep the geometry in check.  I want a good set of rockers that I can use in the future and not have to replace with the next engine build.  I am considering the Comp Cams Pro Magnum 1621-16 or the Harlan Sharp Roller Rockers S70015K.  Anyone have any advise/experience with either of these.  I want something reliable with minimal maintenance.

Thanks,
Scott

they used to sell aftermarket shims to go under the stock rocker shafts to release the factory preload. the result was a faster revving engine. BUT... CHECK THE VALVE CLEARENCE TO THE ROCKER ARM.

sorry, hit enter. sorry about the cap letters but its very important to check to see if their too loose. depending on how far you are going to rev the engine, you can use factory rockers. did i miss how big the cam is?

the Comps will work , they also have a Stainless rocker that is a bit cheaper , you may want to look at the PRW stainless sets also

The cam is an old Erson TQ20 I picked up at Super Shops.  There's a blast from the past.  .449 Lift 292 duration.  I put it in back in the mid 80's when I was in High School.  Also, I just had hardened valve seats installed recently and not sure if the valves are seating at the same level or height they were before.  Does that make sense?  With all the changes, I've been told it is best to get the adjustable valve train to make sure everything is adjusted correctly.

Thanks again for any help.

makes sense to me , nice cam , no lift & tons of duration LOL

Scott,

I'd pick up a set of adjustable iron rocker arms, and properly measure your pushrod length. Hughes engines has a good tech article on how and why pushrod length is important. If you're concerned about geometry, you must measure and install good pushrods. Otherwise, just get adjustable rockers and let fly.

:iagree: The iron rockers are all you'll ever need unless you plan to run a solid roller cam.  :2thumbs:
