Here is an laughable article from a bow tie leaning magazine "Hot Cars" May 1971

I remember seeing that long ago.   It's here somewhere.

I'm sure that wherever Seymour is today, he wishes he had enough sense to buy that Hemi Superbird or Ram Air IV Judge and hang onto it for its investment return.  Instead of the 350 Nova he bought and beat to death because he couldn't afford a Chevelle SS.  I imagine his next big thing was vanning.  Boogie on Seymour.

Could be, it looks a little like him as I recall the younger photos.  And for sure he despised Mopars and loved Chevelles.

I read a book he wrote called "Muscle Car Confidential, confessions of a test car pilot" , I thought it was a pretty good look at what was around in the time , mainly condensed from his articles and notes but also presented in a jokey sort of way. Dont know if he despised Mopars, but sure didnt like the Hemi Cuda that leaked trans fluid but also paid out  equally on other marques as well

I have that book as well and agree it doesn't come out too much in that book.  Some of his other articles back in the day reflect it but there are some interviews with him that bear the most witness to it.  He wasn't, and remains, not much of a Mopar fan.  Which is fine, I'm not much of a  Chevelle fan (of couse I'm nobod7 but still...).

So have I just been up too late today or am I the only one finding his designer gay references a bit annoying?  Guess it was different in the 70's...   :rotz:

It's all sarcasm, "See-More Balls"....get it?   He's just poking fun, like Mad Magazine did. I enjoy it when someone blasts away at commercialism, just yesterday I was trying not to puke at Motor Week's flowing blithering reviews of this weeks cars. Like being locked in a small closet full of roses! It did two things, made me turn off the TV and go fire up my Charger for a spin!

Yes - I got that part - Was just commenting on the tongue-in-cheek nature of the whole thing.

I live with that in Mopar Action because none of the other Mopar only mags come close to the amount of good cars featured as MA does.

And, I gotta admit, I must have the same sense of humor...I sometimes chuckle or even laugh out loud at some of Cliff's (and his aliases) cracks. And...Joe was kind of his mentor back in the day. These guys were all there testing this stuff when it was new.

I don't like reviews written just to insure you keep getting more free cars to test. There just marketing tools.  :scratchchin:

...I also enjoyed that book

After reading the article it appears he hated not only Mopars, but Fords and the Generals cars too.  As far as Mopar Action goes I rather like the smart alec comments. It breaks up the monotony of describing yet another hemi 'Cuda found rusting away in someone's barnyard and how some guy was willing to spend $500,000.00 to bring it back to its former glory.
