I found a picture today of my daily driver 6 pack, 4 spd, am 8 track, bucket seat, no console 33K Bird that I owned in the late 70's...unfortunately it was destroyed in an intense fire, nothing survived!

That's a real shame.  I just love the yellow 'birds.  :'(

looks like there was a practice fire before the fire that took the car.  :icon_smile_blackeye:

yeh, what's the story on that?   For 33k miles, it looks like it was beat up.
My name is Mike and I'm a Moparholic!

There were a lot of low mile Birds that got a rough start.   I could dig for about ten minutes and post a dozen photos of cars like this from the old days.
Low miles doesn't mean it was garaged, or that they were easy miles either.  After all, this one was in Michigan too.

I agree Doug,

my Bird came from Illinois and went through a nose replacement(inattentive brother in the driveway) along with a passenger side quarter window replacement(girlfriend with a long strapped purse). Was never garaged until the early eighties when it was brought to PA.

That car was a daily driver that was never garaged, but at least it was not driven in the salt. The interior was very nice, it only needed a paint job to bring it back. I only paid $1,000 for it in 1975! It was very quick, super track pack 4.10 dana equipped. The previous owner lost his license and had many legal bills to pay...

where in Michigan were you from?  did you attend any of the old meets?

hemiviper588

I lived in Detroit at the time, I drove the Bird to work occasionally  @ the Chrysler Highland Park Engineering center. I didn't attend any of the meets at that time.
