What I think sucks, is you just know whoever buys it, will drop a Hemi or 440 in it, and a 4spd. This car should go back to original I think.

I agree.

I don't remember seeing that a slant 6 had a production number of 6...   :shruggy:

According to the Guru - Only 2 known!

XS29L

I saw one like this in a salvage yard in vt around '84-'85 it was a /6 3 on the tree, manual brakes and steering, radio delete , white outside blue inside. It was hit HARD in the right rear and had been picked over for parts.
MOPAR OR NO CAR !!

was white exterior the standard color?  I'm surprised its not green.

I think some part on EVERY 1968-1969 Charger is green. At least ONE part, or part in sprit is green on these things  :slap:

That car is a perfect candidate for making it a Chevy powered big block with Lambo doors
Damnnnnnnn if I only had the time

And I would make it look like a general lee

Wow amazing

billschroeder5842

Sure it is quirky but I think a bone stock, Slant 6 would be cool.

If you think Education is difficult, try being stupid!

I had a chance to buy a slant 6 with 3 on tree years ago..it's still around up here..

the hard part to find would be the header pipe from manifold to muffler..it does a cross over under the body to get to the muffler that is on the right side

OR MAKE IT INTO A 4X4

OK, now I KNOW you're joking!   :icon_smile_wink:

Like the others, I would LOVE to see that car restored to stock. Interesting, for sure. In a sea of Hemi's & 6-packs, that thing would definitely stand out above the rest. Might not be as VALUABLE as a Hemi or 6-pack when finished, but would definitely steal the show.
It all depends in the fate of the buyer.
"Strive for perfection in everything. Take the best that exists and make it better. If it doesn't exist, create it. Accept nothing nearly right or good enough." Sir Henry Rolls Royce

Vainglory, Esq.

I completely disagree with the idea that it's not desirable.  Now, desirable to a mass audience of classic car fans?  Perhaps not.  More desirable than a 318 auto car that is just screaming out to be cloned?  Or even a 383 auto with a few unremarkable options and painted green or brown?  Ab-so-fucking-lutely.

Can you imagine the attention you'd get at shows with this thing, provided it's restored to its proper condition?  Of course, you probably wouldn't want it as your only Charger, since I can't imagine it would be more fun to drive than a big block, but again, that goes back to the "mass audience" thing.  It's not for mass consumption.  It is for the serious collector and true enthusiast who can appreciate it for what it is.  I would pay a good deal more for this car than for a clone-ready 318 auto car in the same condition.  Of course, I have no money, so it's a moot point.

I hope and pray that this doesn't become another General Lee.  Leave the 318 cars to that fate; this is too rare and too cool.

Ghoste

I agree.  It may never draw the money of a Hemi Cuda convertible but I sure would like to see someone give it an equal quality restoration to concours ready perfection.

Back N Black

So, your sitting at a red light in you restored /6 charger and a kid in his bone stock 75 pinto pulls up next to you and gives you the nod. The light turn green and you mash the gas pedal and all you see is the taillights of the pinto.  :rotz:
Its kinda cool car, but i would not put the money and effort into it.  :Twocents:

I agree. Mopar= Massively over powered and respected.  Just because they did not make many CHEAP chargers with a slant 6 does not make it collectible.
I would be imbarrased to open the hood. :Twocents:

autodynamics

Maybe put a Chevy big block or a ford boss motor
Would be cool

A383Wing

I would open the hood any day and watch the responses...

I bet with the slant 6, the low first gear in the trans, and the rear gear, I actually think it would take off pretty good at he line

Bingo. But then again, someone out there in Charger land actually desires to get ass-whipped by a Pinto, and therefore the car is "desireable" as someone sees it.

It's definitely an interesting oddity, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who would desire it as their only Charger.

Not to pick.....but some of these items were options, so they didn't need to be 'deleted'. (Sure Grip, tinted windows, Magnums, etc....)

Pretty much all of them were options. It was a sideways dig at the inaccurate term 'radio delete'. The only way to delete something is if it was standard. Radios were never standard so you couldn't 'delete' them.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Better yet put a supra motor in it and go drifting

100 to 1 the charger will eventually get a v8 and cloned to an r/t
Either way you gotta love the oddity but in the end who cares make it whatever you want it bears no value so good luck to its fate
