What's this guy thinking...Strip it down, let rust settle in, THEN sell it. ?

TruckDriver

What I think sucks, is you just know whoever buys it, will drop a Hemi or 440 in it, and a 4spd. This car should go back to original I think.

I agree.

I don't remember seeing that a slant 6 had a production number of 6...   :shruggy:

maybe when combined with the 3 speed manual column shift it was? :shruggy:

I've seen slant six automatic cars and 318 3 speed '68 cars so it is pretty unusual.  I'd keep it as sold if I restored it.  Financially, it costs pretty much the same to restore as a big block car.

I have a no option 66 Charger and it gets a lot of attention at shows.  I've been at shows with five 66 hemi cars and mine as the only three-on-the-tree car. It would be an unusual car.  That doesn't make it doesn't make it a lot more desirable and I fear someone would drastically change it.  I hope it goes to a good home.

I didn't think you could get a bench seat in a 68, maybe he means buckets with buddy seat?   :shruggy:

:iagree:

Yea, I'm not buying the bench seat thing. This would be the one and only 68 I've ever heard of with a bench seat.

resq302

maybe he is confused on the term bucket seats and he thinks a console would have been included?

In this case I think it would be desireable. IMO the world has probably moved beyond that thinking when it comes to 2nd gen Chargers for the most part. Maybe not so much when it comes to finding something like a 318/auto with no engine but these low productions cars are something I see being more valued these days.

It would be pretty cool to just leave it the way it came, but it sure is missing a lot. I bet finding a slant 6 k-frame for a b-body is tougher than finding one for a Hemi. If it still had them it would be easy to leave it & restore it that way, but if I had to hunt for those things I'd at least go with a V8 swap. The only slant 6 Charger I recall seeing was a white '69 back in the 80's at a show in NJ. The only reason it caught my attention & knew what it was, was when the owner started it, it had the distinct slant 6 sound.

What standard trans was in it? Did they still use a A833 or did the /6 get a light duty trans like the 318s with the 904?

Wondering if trying to find a /6 and trans combo to restore it might prove to be the most difficult part of the work?

Whatever the trans may be, it wouldn't be unique to the Charger  :yesnod:

It should be an easy one to replicate. Basically just the alphabet in tiny letters with the paint code. ;)

Sounds like the /6 member is still there but modified for a V8. Depending on how modified it is it might not be too difficult to change it back. Still, I don't think it would be that hard to find a replacement. The thing has to stay there for a B-body to be a roller so even a /6 parts car is likely to still have a k frame.

Wow great car. I would restore it back to original.  :2thumbs:

Interest and desireability should not be confused.

It's highly desireable to a select group, but not broadly. Broad interest, but not desireable to the broader group.

Not to pick.....but some of these items were options, so they didn't need to be 'deleted'. (Sure Grip, tinted windows, Magnums, etc....)

was white exterior the standard color?  I'm surprised its not green.
