There goes a few more $ to get a magazine that has one of my old cars in it. :brickwall:

Yup, that's the Green machine in the Jan 2012 Hemmings Muscle Machines issue.  Article came out nicely, I think.  I'd like to get a nice photo of the car in motion as I have access to a large color plotter at work and it would make a nice poster for the garage.
It's always nice to get some p.r. for the overlooked aero car.
Hope everyone has a nice holiday season!

CornDogsCharger

I love that magazine. They always do some great coverage. I'll need to pick up this issue and I really should subscribe to it... as cheap as it is.

The red C500 on page 44 is one of the press release cars. Earliest VIN of a 69 500.

Hey Chris, the article states that your friend bought the 500 in California. I think it might have possibly been owned by my friend. He lives in Westminster Ca. He owned quite a few exceptional unrestored Mopars around that time.

moparchris

Yes!  We went to Westminster to look at the C500 in 1987ish or so.  The owner's name was Dave Stehonovich (?)  His last name was a killer to spell, but I'm in the ballpark.  He had a 1969 Black Hemi Super Bee. 2- 1970 Challenger T/A's and a Lemon twist SuperBird.  My buddy and I always remembered the Black Super Bee and wish we could have brought that one home also.
Is Dave still around?

wingcarenvy

Thats him. Dave Stachovitz. I grew up around your Charger 500! That car put a lasting impression on me. Did it have the 15 inch Magnums on it when your buddy bought it? It ran better than any of his other Hemi cars. I haven't talked him in years. He is still around and still lives in the same house. I saw him while I was on a call on his street but I didn't get the chance to say hi. He also had 2 Hemicudas a 70 and 71 as well as a 70 EV2 Roadrunner 383 4 speed that he bought new. I would really like to catch up with him since its been 20 years or more since I last talked to him. He doesn't know that I turned out to be a hard core Mopar collector. Is there anything that you want from him when I talk to him? Here is the article about the black Super Bee that was in Car Craft in January of 87.

wingcarenvy

His B3 blue T/A is in the Wellborn museum. BTW your car is legendary in my mind!

I do not buy many mags anymore, was compelled to buy this one, great spread, car looks outstanding, hope to see it in person someday.   :2thumbs:

If you ever talk to Dave, ask him if he has the build sheet for the Charger 500.  That would be huge! yes, The car had the magnums still on it when I bought it.  It looked nice but,  used them for another car.
Thanks,
Chris

I still prefer the way it looked with the slotted mags when Bill and I had it!  But it really needed the rear stripe.  Glad that's on it now.

I take it you were the owner before Dave. Do you guys have any more pictures of the 500 back in the day?

wingcarenvy

I talked to Dave tonight. It's been close to 25 years since I have talked to him. It was great to catch up. Unfortunately he doesn't have the build sheet to your Charger. As a matter of fact he didn't keep any documentation of his cars nor where they went.

This thread needs pics!!!!!!!! So get to it!!

Call me lazy of you like, but I've posted them here before:

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,26712.0.html

and I don't much feel like digging out the photo album to rescan them.  At least not until the staples are out of my belly and tube out of my ding-a-ling on Friday.

Learical1, I didn't mean to infer that your lazy. Thanks for posting that link. Those are some very cool pictures the slot mags are hot! I wish you a speedy recovery, happy holidays.

Thanks Mr. Learical, that was a nice old thread scoping 500 pics, love them.  Ok, the painted 68 cor grill black on one of them back in the day kind hurts my eyes.  What is the deal/trend on the Chy rallies on them yrs ago?  I do like the slots, still need to find some for one of my cars  :scratchchin:

 May life be better for you and your ding-a-ling soon.  :2thumbs:

moparchris

I would love to put slotted mags back on it also!!!  Life just seems to get in the way of spending almost a grand on new wheels and tires for a car that gets driven so infrequently.  :rotz:

Try driving it more.  Then the expense won't seem so bad.
