833 tail shaft bushing-sleve

 I have an 833 trans that when the drive shaft yoke is slid in on the tail shaft it has more play than I think it should. Question is do you have to remove the tail shaft housing to change the bushing or can it be done  on the transmission?

there is a special tool that will pull the bushing without removing the tailhousing but it is not cheap , of course disassembling the whole trans is to get to it is no fun either

  I can probably make up a piece that will hook up to a slide hammer..
