Flooding Issue

My engine starts and runs great.
After warming up it periodically floods when the rpms are consistently below 3000 rpms.  I could be cruising or idling and all of a sudden it will quickly stumble and stall.  It restarts immediately but I have to rev the engine for few seconds to above 5000 rpm.  Then it works flawlessly again for 5 - 10 minutes.

My fuel pressure is 5-6psi.
NKG ZFR6FGP plugs
It's a 512 stroker with prepped Eddy heads and Hughes hydraulic cam:
  Intake Duration at .050" 246°
  Exhaust Duration at .050" 250°
  Intake Valve Lift 1.5 .569"
  Exhaust Valve Lift 1.5 .576"
  Lobe Separation Angle 108º
11:1 compression (with a crappy quench so I'm spiking my fuel).
Timing is 35° total.  Can't tell at idle.
Vacuum at idle is awful
Idle is right around 950-1000 rpm.
Proform 950 carb.

I do notice that there is fuel dripping from the squirters at idle.  I've set the bowl height so low, you can just barely see the fuel through the site glass.

Anything over 3000 RPM and she runs like an animal...

Thanks for your thoughts.

Junk holding the inlet valve open periodically. I had lead flakes in my pickup from all the years of leaded gas deposits coming loose. It had no sock on the pickup tube so it got to the carb. I had the same symptoms.

What is the vacuum at idle & have you swapped power valves to a lower vacuum than the reading you are getting at idle in gear ?

Long Island RT

I would hope it's not junk stuck in the carb since EVERYTHING about my fuel system is brand new.
I guess I'll check when I take the carb off to change the power valve.

Does anyone know what powervalve comes in the Proform carb?
I think my vacuum is around 6in (from memory) but I'll check again. (btw - the car is a stick)

I also know that at idle she loves to be advanced but then my overall is way too high.  I have a Procomp distributor that I can't (or just don't know how to) adjust in more idle advance and less overall.
Maybe it's time for a better distributor - Any Suggestions?

Thanks Again All.

sounds like you may just need to lock the distributor at full advance and adjust to suit.

If your squirters are dripping at idle, adjust your pump arm(s) a little looser.
