Hello fellow charger owners
may i ask i am about to  remove  the  factory aircon/heater box unit from 68 charger  and replace with the the factory smaller just heater box unit , as i am not going to run the factory a/c, i have a heater box from a 69 roadrunner, may i ask before i start removing and figuring out  its not that easy, are the heater box units the same in a 68/69 dodge b_body  vs 68/69 plymouth b_body  models is there a difference
thank you

The 68/69 difference is not the problem.  But the whole swap won't work that easily.  The firewall openings were completely different on a heater-only car versus a heat/AC car.  The heater-only cars also lacked the lower vent openings in the dashboard frame & pads too.

For your intentions, I would vote to keep using the factory heat/AC dashboard assembly (and just run the heater with it).  Either that or else remove it, block off the unused firewall openings, and hang a smaller aftermarket heater-only setup under there.

Why not just remove all the hardware forward of the firewall, cap off the A/C fittings on the firewall and just use the heater portion of the A/C suitcase?
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

True. The heater/defroster units had the fan motor inside the car, the A/C cars had it through the firewall.

I cut out a section and welded in a NON A/C firewall section:

You could just make a sheet metal cover to accomplish the same thing. Vintage Air includes one in some of their kits.

If your cowl to heaterbox fresh air duct is in good shape, I'll buy it from you if you're willing to sell. That duct is only used on AC cars. It won't fit on heater only.

Back N Black

I changed my charger from AC to non AC. Its a lot of work, i cut part of the fire wall from a non AC car and welded into my car.
