rod bearings oiling hole

Had to get locally a rod bearing set what after 4 days searching ( by me and couple of friends ) could find. They are 2320CP Sealed Power. Diff than the Clevite ones these don't have the oil hole.

How to make it on the safer way to not damage the bearing ? will a triangular file work ?

can it be made on just on the half section what meets with the oil groove ? ( asking this because noticed the Clevite pieces have them on both pieces )


and another question... are 2320CP same pieces ( TM77 trimetal ) than Clevites CB527P ? I can't find sealed power specs

Yes, I used a triangular file on the half that needed it.  I wrapped a rag around the bearing itself to prevent any mishaps with the file. I then wiped them down to remove any metal filings. this was my first engine I've assembled myself and I'm so glad i noticed they were missing too, i wonder how many engines have been assembled without people realizing they aren't there anymore...

As I stated in a previous thread, most bearing makers have deleted the oil notch because they think it's not necessary and many builders agree.

I made them...

making the V also found the V GROOVE was some ramdomly made, not exactly machined on all caps the same. I made them all based on one cap, and then had to make some touch on every half bearing. On couple of caps had in fact to ENLARGE and MATCH the existant V grove with the bearing V cut I made initially ( really baddly cut on cap at fact )


I made the file job with bearing mounted on cap to follow the V groove direction
