What is the best way to paint an engine? Type of paint? Prime it? Something that will last awhile. Thanks

Everyone has their own preferred method. Some use primer, others don't. Some use rattle can paint, others use auto urethane and clear coat.

The factory used cheap enamel directly over bare steel with no primer. Then again it was mass production, longevity was not a consideration.

With proper prep, nearly any modern paint will work, although I've preferred some of the ceramic-based paints lately. The Mopar rattle can stuff has held up well, and others like Plasti-kote.

Plenty of reading ahead!

Me too! Great stuff!!
Too bad none of the stores by me carry Plasti-kote paints anymore. They all switched to DupliColor.  :shruggy:
