Drum tab/weight purpose

Anyone know why there is a tab/weight on the drivers side drum and not the pass side?

Balancing of the drum itself?  So it doesn't matter what side of the car the drum with the weight goes?

Of course, I'll BE putting it on the side the factory did.....going for that 100 pointer, ya know. :rofl:

just to balance the drum so it can go on either side .

one would think with that much weight on the middle of the drum, you would be able to see why it needed so much

Did you guys notice the nice uniform way the black-out paint was applied to the drums?   :eek2:  I didn't replicate that during the rebuild.

Drums were never blacked out by the factory. The ones with any kind of styled wheels were brush painted red though.

I looked at mine and thought the black was factory...and was normal for behind the Mag 500's, so the drums looked dark throught the slots.

Red for Road Wheels (Magnums) Rallye wheels, recall wheels....any styled wheel.

On top of all the originals I have seen this way there is a factory engineering document on it as well......just need to find it...

I've seen that instruction sheet......it was for a 69...maybe they used black before that year.  :scratchchin:

My car had just 70,000 miles on it when I began tearing it down, so the chances are good th drums are original.  I'm gonna go with that, since my drums look factory.  Surely if they were replacement drums, whoever painted them black would have done a better job.

Uniform? :lol: Yea, you can easily replicate that in 45 seconds by spray-bombing it and then jamming the wheel on before the paint dries. That's where the factory uniformity came from.
