Barn full of Mopars... WIW

Well I followed up on a craigslist posting.  And oh boy what a surprise.

What happened was some guy bought all these Mopars and had rented some barns to store them in. Well the guy up and disappears. Letters were written to him, calls made, everything that could be done was done to contact him. Nothing.

Well they contacted the state to see what could be done about them. They were able to get salvage titles for all the cars. They are not Junk titles where the cars have to be parted out. They can get plates again they said.

They are selling them off, I told the guy I would help him out.

What do you think about these cars, the 70 Barracuda I owned once even!

1969 Charger 383 4-speed car, 71 Charger R/T U-code, Chrysler 300H, my old 70 Cuda.  What do you guys think?

What state are you in? I know a guy looking for a cuda..

The 69 is pretty rusty. No engine/trans. I assume? I'd say no more than $6k for it.

The 71 looks fair. Not too hip on the 3rd gen values but it's a U-code so I'd have to say around $6k-$7k? :shruggy:

No idea on the 300. Cudas usually do well, or used to, but that one is missing a lot. Maybe $4k-$5k?

The Bee looks pretty rusty too. Probably around $6k too, maybe more.

Yea, but it's a 4 speed car. I see total junk go for $5k all the time so I figured another grand for the maual.

The 71 Charger is an R/T? Either the doors/hood were swapped at some point or it's not the real deal.

Yikes! I've seen some rusty cars in my life, but that Charger roof is amazing!  :eek2: Looks like a strictly parts car.

They all look pretty scary to me...

Just saw this picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hemipwr70/6415635821/in/set-72157628182606553/ no R/T hood, door doesn't look like a R/T door
on another picture it has the R/T door (at least on the driver's side) and when I had a look at all the pictures I saw the VIN picture (it wasn't next to the Charger picture so I didn't pay attention).

Yeah,

I have a rough price list the guy compiled.  I think he is high on most of it.

I don't know.  I'd love that 300H.  But the 71 Charger R/T is awesome.  All three 4-speed B-bodies would be cool.  I actually used to own the 70 Barracuda in there.  And two 340 A-bodies.... that's cool

The most WOW would be the 300H, then the 71 R/T.

Crazy.

There are 2 3rd gen chargers in there.  The gun metal gray one, does have the R/T doors, but does have a flat hood.  The green one looks like a plain jane. :Twocents:

Someone needs to tell the seller there is a reason no one is coming back to get them. Most of them look like parts cars to me.

TruckDriver

I wouldnt pay more then $1500 for the '69.... no way.

The 71 is only worth maybe $3000 tops in that condition. These cars are savable, but they all need major work too.

If I could get the '69 for $1500, I'd be all over it long as the frame rails are in good shape.

The roadrunner is a parts car if that, in my opinion.

TheAutoArchaeologist

No, I believe he is high as well.  If I was to price them out, here is what I think they would be worth.

1970 Chrysler 300H                     $7,000.00 ish
1969 Dart Swinger                        $1,000.00
1970 Dart Swinger 340                  $2,000.00
1970 Barracuda /6                        $2,000.00
1971 Road Runner 383 4-speed      $3,000.00
1969 Super Bee 383 4-speed          $2,000.00
1969 Charger 383 4-speed             $4,000.00
1971 Charger R/T 440 auto            $5,000.00
1970 Challenger /6 auto                $2,000.00

The green car and the gun metal car are the same car.  It looks like the hood, fender and door were replaced at one time.

Ironically a friend I know is pretty sure he knows who owned the cars originally.

Ryan

TruckDriver

Your still high on the Roadrunner & Charger prices. 3rd gens still don't bring the higher prices like the 2nd gens do. And that '69 is not much more then a parts car. When I got my '69, I got it for $1000, and it was in WAY better shape then that one, and mine need a frame rail and all the floors. It was a 383 4spd car too. But mine still had most of all the other parts, perfect grill, and chrome and roof. If it was a R/T 4spd car, yeah, then and only then I'd say maybe $4000.  :Twocents:

Yeah I agree, the Hurst at around 7 isn't too bad.  Everything else depends upon getting them out of the barn and seeing how bad the rest of the frames and underneath are.

The 69 Charger looks bad, but the holes in the roof are from the vinyl top holding in moisture.  The floors on the inside had surface rust, but I didn't readily see any holes.  Definitely restorable.

I plan on getting out there again on Sunday to go over the cars more carefully.

Yup, getting some more info on what they might be worth.  7k for the 300H is around what people are saying.  And like 800-1000 for the 340 Dart and less for the 69 Swinger.  And so on from there.  I hope to get out there Sunday to take more pictures and get more information.

Ryan, are you still in my area?  I might give $500 for the 71 just to put the hideaways (possibly side markers) on my 72, an part the rest if these are close by. otherwise not worth hauling..the left front frame rail on that thing is TOAST.  I could build one hell of a roundy round car out of that shell, but the front stub would be all 1/8 plate.  Im sure plenty here will want to string me up for saying so but its a parts car now no mater what it was in 71.

An uncle of mine has a Hurst 300 that has been in our family since the early 80's. It was bought off a buddys dad who got it brand new. Anyways I am more than aware of the lack of ANY reproduction parts for the Hurst edition, emblems not included. He paid out the nose for some NOS leather seat material but if you want anything it will have to be NOS just about. It is not about turning a buck as the car has a very rich history with my uncles as two of them have owned the car. Plus they don't flip cars for money. :Twocents: :Twocents:
