With the crazy prices I doubt I could afford my Charger if I had to buy it now. I am not going to eat beans and weenies to afford a play car either so I guess I would get a 64-66 barracuda. My plan would be to make a SCCA autocrosser out of it.

TO be honest.  Look around.  You may not find it overnight like the old days  5-10 years ago.  But they are there.  I will post a pick soon of some of my recent finds.

Right!!.. The '64 to '66 Barracudas as someone else mentioned aren't too bad either but for performance a nice late sixties or early seventies A-body can still be gotten cheap,

Not sure what you are thinking and why would living on the West Coast help(which I don't BTW)? I would like to see the day you can buy a "nice" '73 Cuda cheaper than a "nice" '73 or '74 Charger.   

If you consider an arm and a leg to be anything over $3-4000 then you are not going to get much of anything in any car.

I'm allready looking at the Mustang II's. They seem to be getting more popular and expensive. 302's 4sps. I'm looking at one today from an old lady.  She bought it new and it only has 67,000 original miles on it, runs great and has maintenance records.  She can't drive anymore and has no family that wants it. I told her I'd give $800--$900 for it and she said to come up and drive it and check it out. It's not a million dollar car but I'm starting to collect all the sports cars I can. Zcars, A-B bodies, T-A's, ect. I'll sit on them until they are worth something and thn unload them. Think about it, they will only go up in value. That's a good investment for 20yrs down the road..  You guy's have to know what I'm talking about.. How many times have you seen what was a nothing car in high school, now be worth 4-5-or 10 times more now, and we all say the same thing, if I only knew then what I know now I'd bought all I could and be rich now.(Man, I could have got those for nothing 10yrs. ago) So, if you take any 60's-70's and maybe 80's  sports cars, sit on them if you have the space, and 10-20yrs. from now you'll have a small fortune of solid collector cars Think about it, take any car that's 40-50yrs. old and complete and see what it's worth..And that's my  .... Chuck...........................................

For some reason I bought the G before the Charger but I have all they years (+20) since I missed a 71 R/T been looking for R/T and I swore to my self that I never should compromise with any thing else then a R/T, but then this 71 SE U-code 440, 4-speed, dana, Hemi orange (currently in Porches Indish rot (painted 1984, I have the invoice) was sold locally, how could you ignore that


But I would not give up the G, i have realized that this is my best investment ever

well i called the bank today to check on financeing a 75 duster thats localy for sale. I havnt even looked at it but have seen it, then last night a friend told me that last summer the guy told him he could have it for 3grand. its got a 360 crate motor, 4 speed. and a good looking plum crazy paint job with white 360 stripes. one draw back is the tan interior, but ill live with it for the price. its only going to increase in value, and its something cool to drive while i redo the charger.

I used to drive a '73 340 Dart Sport in high school.  Sold it for $500.00 back in '82 
Also used to own a '72 Satalite.  Loved that car to death. (literally)  Sold it for $400 in '85 
Also had a '66 Mustang, a '74 Mustang, a '76 Charger and a '79 Magnum.  All of these cars would be worth a lot more today then what I sold them off for back in the day.  Dang!  (I bought the '76 Charger for $50 and drove it home  )

63 polara 2 door,  or same year fury.  also 70 2door fury's are mean as hell.  also 68/69 barracuda notchbacks look very cool.  The best part about any A body is that you can basically stick junk 318's in 'em they will be quick.

If you are into the 50's, in my opinion, nothing looks cooler than a 56 buick 2door.  similar to chevy, but has the portholes and the wicked break in the body line.  tub one of those and watch the women and children run in fear.

64-66 Darts and Barracudas are cheap, still.  A bodies, especially the 73+s.  73-74 B bodies are also cheap.  Satellites and Coronets, 66-67, are much cheaper than their 68-70 cousins.

I like the 57 DeSoto, Dodge, Plymouth, or Chrysler.  My other thought would be a AMC, either a Rebel or an Ambassador.  A Dart Demon would also be good, or a Dodge Truck.  Just my two cents.

My other passion is Cadillacs. I have a 75 Coupe deville with a 500 that I inherited from my grandfather that is more important to me than my charger my house and even my tools!   I would really love a 41 Cadillac convertible! These cars are just beautiful! They are by far my favorite car even more than a charger, (Insert boo's here ) Although they really aren' much cheaper. But I am sure I can get the nicest one for cheaper than a original Hemi Charger!
