way cool find. thanks for sharing, dave. there are also two links on the right side of that page, that discuss the rediscovered petty/hamilton superbird. i see a familar name in the comments section for both stories.

  He can't be running a soft bar on the left front for sure.

It's built from a street car of some kind. The full pinchweld lip under the rocker panel gives that away.    Real race cars don't have pentastars still on their fenders.   Looks like a nicely done local late model.  Wonder if it started as a Bird?   We'll probably never know.

sure hope not , but it probable did or one gave up its parts for it ?

I keep looking at the second picture and it's hard to tell if it has a rear window plug. I sure doesn't appear that way, but I might be looking a little too hard.

I was thinking the same thing the other day.    The way the back of the roof appears suggests there is no plug.
