Piston rods.. front and rear ?

I can see on stock rods a casted dot on one side, I think on PN side... does that means they have some front and rear disposition ?

I have heard from the mechanic it could be, since they should have a front and rear facing disposition. Need to be sure about this before mount the new pistons on them

On factory rods with the oil "squirt hole" groove, the rod should be installed with the squirt hole facing up towards whe cam.

Look on the rod cap where it mates to the rod, you will see a "V" shaped groove that extends from the inside to the outside...this is the squirt hole groove and that side of the rod faces up toward the cam when installed.

Most bearing shells no longer have a notch for the squirt hole.

Insert a bearing shell in the rod. Notice that the shell is offset in the rod? The larger offset goes towards the side of the crank journal and the narrow side goes towards the other rod.

On the four LY rods I just looked at, the casting number with the dot has always been towards the other rod. That is a small sample amount so I don't know if that dot/casting number orientation will always hold true. However the bearing offset method will always be correct.

ok, the bearing deal both mentioned is not a problem, since doesn't need special tooling, is just an easy assembly stuff I will do by myself. I was wondering about the rods itself due they need tools ( the press ) and I have to request to the guy who is balancing to assembly the pistons and rods.
