my intake doesnt fit on my engine, its the right intake(edelbrock air gap) and i just took another edelbrock off that fit, but the intake manfild blots cant all go in, if one side fits the the other side is too far up so only half the hole in the head is showing......whats the deal? im starting to get really pissed off because i put all the silicone down only to find out my freakin intake isnt fitting!

Hmm.... that is strange. The only thing that comes to mind is you having a accidentally getting a magnum intake, instead of an A intake.

its number 7576 for 340-360 chrysler, its the right one. it seems like it would fit if there was no gasket....but thats not gonna happen. now ive ruined one set of gaskets and im starting to get really mad at this, i guess ill go to the shop that built my engine and see whats up.

deathcharger71

it actually fits perfect with no gasket so i think a really thin gasket would to the trick, the new gasket is a lot thicker than the old one. now i have a new problem, i put a thin layer of cilicone between the gasket and the intake and now its alls tuck on the intake and i cant get it off because of the way the surface isnt completely smooth its cut in a way that leaves tiny grooves....this is turning into a horrible day.

i just called my machine shop and he says that the intake needs to be surfaced. but i dont see how the other intake fit and this one doesnt...it doesnt look like the other intake has ever been surfaced.

Did you buy the intake new, or used?

Sounds like your engine had some work done on it. When the heads are milled it will throw the intake manifold alignment off. More than likely the old manifold had been milled to facilitate installation. Sometimes you can elongate the boltholes to secure the manifold...just depends how far off the bolt allignment is.

hes milling the intake now, hes gonna mill it a little then ill try to fit it again then he said hell mill it again no extra charge it the frist one isnt enough. and the intake bolts i got arnt long enough  :icon_smile_big: im wasting a lot of money on this lol, does anyone know where i can get intake bolts? will earls have them?

firefighter3931

I use the small head ARP bolts on intake manifolds. Makes getting a wrench on the bolt heads a whole lot easier...especially with aftermarket manifolds. Summit racing will have them. Anybody that carries the ARP line should be able to get them for you. When you reinstall them, put a dab of silicone on the threads to prevent leaks. The Permatex high heat Ultra Copper works well for me.  ;)

firefighter3931
