My wife recommended I go to this upscale barber shop because they do a good job (I guess she was tired of me doing the cuts myself) and they give you a cigar on your first visit. What I didn't know, that was a big bonus, was that they also give you a beer to nurse on while they cut your hair. That was very cool. I had a nice cold Kokanie while getting my hair cut. But was sort of wierded me out was when I walked in the place some girl was giving a guy some sort of facial treatment. :icon_smile_shock: Both she and the dude she was working on were both serious high maintenance people. It's like 95 degrees today and this 130-lb. guy is wearing a tie and all the fixings, two ear rings, etc., and this girl is plucking his eyebrows. What kind of pansy gets his eyebrows plucked? ??? I didn't want to stare but it looked like she was goofing around with his eyelashes too. Is this common? Oh well. Whatever. I guess if someone wants to pay to have a girl pluck his eyebrows then more power to him. My wife pops my zits for free and pulls hairs out of my ears but she's never messed with my eyebrows.

There is just too much information in that story for me to even know where to start. :scratchchin:

I think it's pretty common for wives to do "minor surgery" on their husbands.  :icon_smile_big: I think they enjoy inflicting pain under the guise of primping.

That's too funny, Bull.   I had a similar experience.   The same barber had cut my hair for 18 years, then he retired.   I saw an ad for an "upscale" place here that gave you coffee, polished your shoes, etc.   Slick looking ad, too, a place called "Trims".   Anyway, I walk in, told 'em I wanted a haircut, and the guy (in a pink shirt) told me with a lisp ??? :icon_smile_kisses: that they didn't have any openings until next wednesday, but if I wanted they owner to "do" my hair it was a hundred bucks.   I said "Sh$t, I want a haircut, not a bl@wj@b".

...left there fast as I could, looked and found an old-fashioned barber shop that takes you back thirty years, a bunch of old farts talking sports, fishing and chicks...eight bucks for a cut and a straight razor shave.

There's a barber shop in Appleton, WI  where the haircuts for men are $10 and women's are $250.   Each chair also has cable tv and you are given a remote to watch anything you want while you get your cut...

This place wasn't that bad. It's called the Mob Shop. It was $15 and I figure $15 for a haircut, a TV showing baseball and a beer is a pretty good deal. The owner said he's building a new place with tanning booths, shoe shines, tattoos and a bunch of other stuff. We'll have to see if that draws a bunch of pretty boys but for now it's a pretty cool place.

That's not a "happy ending" massage place? or is it? Just kidding - that is kind of on the feminine side if you ask me. I just makesure that I dont have grease embedded in my finger nails and palm prints after working on my car and going back to work. But having your eye brows trimmed? I dont think so! First of all I'm to cheap to pay for that and second I dont want anyone plucking at my eye brows.

Just to add to this a little the guy that runs the place is pretty arrogant. Arrogant people used to really bother me but for some reason they don't anymore. I just laugh at them now. Anyway, he was bragging about this, that and the other thing the whole time I was there and at one point he said, "This might be the best haircut you've ever had in your life." I almost laughed out loudbut I held it in because it sure didn't look like anything special. Actually, come to think of it I've never had a beer while getting a haircut so he might be right. Anyway, my wife gets home, sees my head and asks, "Did you get a haircut?" I told her I did and she says, "Did you do it yourself?" I told her no, that I went to the place she told me about. Then she says, "Wow. It totally looks like the haircuts you do yourself." So much for the best haircut of my life. Now I just have to learn how to drink a beer while buzzing my own melon.

Ok, I admit to reading this thread, sort of out of some morbid curiosity.   I don't know if this is all some trendy fad of facials and pedicures for men and stuff, I have heard the term "Metrosexual", sounds scary, wouldn't want to be called that, its a straight guy who does this stuff, probably a new word for a "dandy".   Woulnd't want to be confuse for one of those either.

I go to the community college haircutting/beautician school and have a super cute young girl (over eighteen of course) shampoo, condition, cut, style, spend a good amount of time, almost always does a better job that a more expensive retail hair cutting place, because she can take her sweet time and isn't rushing people in and out of the place,   SEVEN BUCKS, no tax.   Open to the public.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.
