Update: Jan 2013

It seems all available "slots" for the Sprint Cup race in April are all sold or used up. I just emailed back and forth with the VP of Special Events at Texas Motor Speedway. He is interested in setting something up for their June NASCAR Camping World Truck Series / IZOD IndyCar weekend (June 7-8). I will talk with Mr. Nelson in about 2 weeks to go over the details. So, this could be something convenient for the Western/Central Mountain crowd.. Being centrally situated, could be convenient for a lot of people.

The events will be the NASCAR Camping World Winstar World Casino 400 and the Izod-IndyCar Firestone 500
http://www.texasmotorspeedway.com/race-tickets/individual-tickets/firestone-550-weekend/firestone-550

OK,, just got off the phone with the track, it is a go..... I'm going to help them make a flyer, get the details and spread the word.. My input is what the typical expectation is: 1. parade lap, tickets, place to park, parking for tow-vehicles, etc... Looks like I'll be helping out to be the point-of-contact..  Doug !!!! Help !!!

Cheers,
Troy

Troy, have you seen the announcement about the March 15th event in Bristol?     It is not a formal event for either club, but it's out there.

Doug, Yeap.... Saw it. Hope this endeavour of mine isn't taken by anyone to undermine any other Aero-event around the same time. I, for one, just can't afford to go to the events held up North and/or out East. The Talladega Event pretty much pushes the financial limits for me. I know there will be those that can't do both and that's fully understood...

From moparts.com
Pre-tentative announcement

Tim Lopata of the Forge Musclecar Classic has joined forces with FOOD CITY and The Bristol Motor Speedway to present "The Winston Cup Car and Driver Reunion".This will be a gathering of cars and drivers from the bygone era.
The main portion of the gathering will be the Aero cars.Talladegas,Cyclones,Daytonas,Superbirds,Charger 500s and more from the 1969 and 1970 season. Also included in the display will be an edition of pre 69 cars and more modern cars of the 70's 80's and 90's.FOOD CITY will be making contact with drivers from those eras for a personal invite to attend one of the largest displays ever to grace the Bristol Motor Speedway .Mr. Lopata has also contacted Jason Thompson / Talladega Cyclone Reunion and Doug Schellinger from Superbirdclub.com.
We are inviting original cars (assembly line) that have been built for and have graced the Superspeedways and the drivers that drove them. Also any collectors that have original "as raced" cup and Grand National cars. This display is being hosted by Food City in the Food City hospitality area. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to display at one of the greatest tracks in the country with some of the rarest Speedway cars ever built.Spacing is limited to a first come first serve basis.
We are also trying to get track time for all attendees.Being this is a NASCAR
held /sanctioned event it will be thru their authority if it can be possible.Again this is a static display and hopefully tracktime will be approved but not gauranteed.Check for further updates.Hotel info shortly. There is NO financial compensation for displaying a car.
We are also planning an event for saturday for those spending the weekend in the
east Tennessee area.More info to follow...

Where: Bristol Motor Speedway

When: Tentative friday March 16th 2012

Troy, I will see how things are going up here but would love to make it down for that one. Would be fun. Just would have to take a few days off of work, and maybe find someone who has a trailer.

I had a previous thread, but need to turn it into a poll so I have "numbers". I contacted the track today and the Asst. GM will be contacting me (hopefully) next week to touch base with the potential Aero Warriors Meet during the Spring Race at Texas Motor Speedway. The time frame of this one is about April. I have mentioned to them about the success, fun and appreciation both car-owners have along with the thrill spectators have seeing the classic cars.

So,,,,,,,,, Who's in?

Cheers,
Troy

Any decision from  the track?...  Do I need to start planning a little "picnic" in the Dodge Mahal?   :shruggy:

I contacted them after the Nov. race and they returned the email saying they'd get back to me... So, I'll shoot them another one this week and emphasize that people will need to be prepared, save and make arrangements........

THESHOW

I am putting on the Bristol gathering. This event has been in place since last years Bristol race.We had a bunch of FORD aero guys attend and this year we opened it to the Mopar contingent. It has been a private gathering for my show attendees until last year when we decided to add .I didn't annonce it until after Dougs Indy event because I didn't want to confuse both venues out of courtesy. This is the first I knew of your event. This gathering is for Food City and has no correlation to anything going on in the hobby.I deal with the politics all the time thats why this has always been a private venue.Being that its Food Citys 25th anniversary we decided to have cars and I have access to drivers we decided to expand. No digging or cutting into anyone else's event plus its also a limited number I am inviting.Hope that explains it...

No problem Tim..

All, I haven't heard back from the track... So, I have to think the 1st race is going to be a no-go.. For me personally, there's not enough time to plan and save. So, maybe the Nov. 4th race would be more appropriate and "doable"..
