Restoring my 69 steering wheel at home, low cost

Sandblasted the inner spokes to remove the pitting in the satin chrome.
This will be painted and brushed to look as the original.
I used epoxy kit to fill and repair the cracks in the steering wheel

After some sanding i masked the outer and inner rings




Painted it with the brown finish i liked
Now its have to dry before create the woodgrain


I left some worn places on it to keep some "used condition" , its not a new car

We smoked the steering wheel with Acetylene


Then we used a little wet towel to stroke it like a wood grain structure


Before the clear coat i removed the masking on the inner and outer metal rings
Then i clear coated it with its first layer.
As seen the steering wheel are far from perfect but i want to show the rough history of this car

I "Restored" my woodgrain wheel and found that if you don't recast the wheel, it'll crack right where you filled the crack first time it gets a temp change. Even with clear coat.

Yes, as i wrote, the steering wheel are far from perfect.
Maybe this will hold maybe not, but i think it will crack as you said
But it will be nicer than before anyway
I seen pictures at the repro and they wasn't good at all.
