How many prefer those "gripper" fender covers over the traditional vinyl ones?

Gripper. Got this one from my son for fathers day.  :2thumbs:
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

And it seems to be holding up well?

I had one of those "gripper" ones and it seemed to always leave some kind of a residue on the fender.  Don't know if it was cause of the spongy foam type material or what but I hated polishing the fender every time I got done working on the car.

Haven't used it a lot but seems to be okay and I haven't noticed any residue.

I have the spongy Snap On's as well. I like them.

I use one of these:

http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/ultra+soft+fender+cover.do?sortby=ourPicks

It's thick & soft, which protects the paint and does not scratch. It has built in pockets to hold small items. It has magnets sewn into it which hold it onto the fender. Sucks if you own a 'Vette.  :smilielol:     But, it works great when working on the Charger. I haven't used a foam/vinyl/rubber one since.

The gripper type were leaving a film on my fender too. I just put a soft bath towel under it and the cover on top. Of course no grip happens. I can live with it.  :Twocents:

My buddy uses cheap floor rugs with the rubber backing from Wal-Mart. They don't mark the paint and he doesn't feel bad about changing them often-he just gives the dog a new entry mat.
