The stats for the 2013 GT500 were just posted and it is astonishing to say the least....

650HP
600 lb-ft
3850 lbs

the new ZL1 Camaro is already out gunned, and the SRT8 Challenger has brought a sling shot to a bazooka fight....

The one that comes last to the party can always adjust to those that came before.

Don't worry though, Dodge isn't lying down, they are just fine tuning some stuff....

That's amazing. Too bad I still think the rear of these current Mustang's are still fugly :eek2: There too round in the back. I like the 2004 to 2010 cars.

Yeh, I agree.  Looks like the chopped the tail panel off of a Honda Accord and put it on the mustang.  Shame too cause that is the only part of the car that I don't like.

To be fair, I think the new tail panel looks better than the 10-12 style, although the 05-09 was the best looking.

Not loving the Camaro at all. If you "Shelby-ized" a Challenger it would rock......Mr. Norm's and others can up the ante over the Shelby no problem.

resq302

actually, what we need FIAT to do is build a new Chally convert as a factory production car!

There's a Performance Group on YouTube that has a twin Supercharged Challenger SRT 8 that runs 10.34 @ like 140 MPH fully loaded, and makes about 1000 HP...Anything can fly when you throw $70K at it.

Do all this for say $35K and you won't keep 'em on the lots. Course, there will be alot of dead teenagers out there too.....

Changed it a little, it is not just teens that wouldn't be able to handle a ride like that. I do agree more teens would die, youth isn't the only factor. I have seen more than a few older people that would eat a tree also.

Yes they can tune the car for 1000 horsepower, but can they make it last for 100,000+ miles, while meeting all of the emission regulations, while still being livable around town, while having all of the hardware to not only make it go but also stop and turn? Similar to the Ford Raptor, the big plus to this car is that all of the research and development was done by an OEM, so it will be reliable in the long run, and if it isn't you have a warranty to set back on.

Correction about when new 2013 will be here, late March or early April now. Capable of 200 mph, 5.8 ltr. Another win for the blue oval team. Not that it matters to anyone here, but the new camaro which I have driven sucks, both the RS and SS. They only Challenger I have driven (hard) was an 09' SRT, topped out at 155 and I still say it looks like a fat chic with short legs from behind.

Yea, I still have a passion for old Mopars, but it's hard to beat down a new mustang.

That is amazing.

It is a great time for choices.  I bought an 09 RT Challenger a little over three years ago.  13.21 to 13.32 time slips stock IF you get your 60 about 1.95 on the street , factory tires.  (I have plenty of slips with 60fts up to 2.2+ as a 4k pound car on street tires is tricky to launch consistently in my opinion)

The other choice was a 6.1 L SRT, now a 6.4L SRT, and even the 5.7 is up a handful of ponies.

The Mustang did no interest me until they got the new 5.0 in it.  That's over 400 crank HP.  For 20 plus years of marriage got my wife a convertible.  We test drove three SS Camaros.  That was my first choice.  She hated it.  Loved the Mustang.  I would have preferred a SS but after the test drives my resistance to her going with the Mustang was gone.  That will be up a few more ponies in 2013.  And not even talking about the Shelbys.

So, even not counting the ZL1, or Shelbys,
as is stands right now you can go out and choose from three 300HP plus V6 RWD American cars at low to mid 20K. (base Mustang, Challenger, or Camaro)

Three V8 RWD  high 20s to mid/high 30s with 375+ HP (SS, GT, and RT)

And one 470HP at mid 40s SRT,
all naturally aspirated .

Things are good.

J-440

Have noticed that all of these new pony cars are real porkers.  Even the new Charger is over 4200 lbs.  Can't they make a lighter car like they did back in the 60's?  I know that all of the safety crap and big ass wheels add weight, but really that much?  These cars would be real screamers if they dropped 600 lbs.  Wait a few years and that Shelby will depreciate about 30 grand and then get one. :icon_smile_big:
