Petition to Stop Nickelback from playing at the Lions-Packers Thanksgiving game

Well if what I have heard is true you do not have so many choices, and a so-so band would be killer then.

We get all the bands everyone does?

Anything is better that Gangster Crap, oops I mean Rap stuff  , I'm so sick of that shit  , not even music 99% of the time, All most any Rock band would be better than Rap, gone on too long

I thought the NFL was trying to increase their ratings? How does having Nickleback at the Thanksgiving day game in Detroit do that? I would pay extra on my ticket if Nickleback wasn't allowed to ever perform at an NFL game. Think of it as a "decency" fee.

IMHO they dethroned Matchbox-20, the previous kings of forgettable annoying radio rock. 

 

OUCH. i agree with nickelback being recycled music. But Matchbox 20's first album "Yourself or Someone Like You".. almost every song on it was awesome.
Probably one of the only CD's back in the day i could put on track 1 and play through without hating half the songs.

Hey don't knock Detroit . . . . even though we have the highest murder rate in the country . . . it's not because we have more crime!    It because we're better shots! 


As for Canadian . . . who cares.  You can send RUSH down here anytime you want as far as I'm concerned.   As for Nickleback . . . I think they have a couple good songs but most of them do sound the same.   

I don't even know what nickelback sings to be honest.  As for RUSH.  They may have 1 or 2 good songs, mostly I think they suck!  Right up there with Queen!

I've never sat down and listened to a Matchbox-20 album in my life.  I have only heard the few big hits on the radio.  I don't know if I would have liked them in moderation or not, those couple hits just got so overplayed it drove me insane.  I didn't go for the combination of Rob Thomas's singing and the lyrics.  His tone/emotion never seemed to mesh with the words.  Instrumentally I didn't think they were half bad. 

The overplaying is worst on people like Gwen Stafani or Black Eyed Peas.  Every time those artists get another hit I cringe even if it's good.  Because you KNOW the radio is gonna run it completely into the ground and the song won't hold up.


Some other bands can get overplayed and not suffer as much for it.  Somebody like Van Halen or Aerosmith will get wretchedly overplayed, you get sick of hearing the song, but you usually still don't hate the song for it in the big picture.

I liked Rush in the 70s , after they moved their pictures I gave up , very talented but to political into the 80s .
Nickleback doesn't bother me , there are far worse out there . Who are thebeatles you mean that ancient band that did more tunes with an orchestra that could barely play ?
Maybe some Godsmack or Tool or Rev Theory ?

Well after the way the Lions played yesterday in Chicago....the halftime entertainment at the Thanksgiving game will be the least of my concern lol.

What have you heard?  I know Canadian radio stations have to play a certain percentage of "Canadian Content". Is that what you are trying to say?

Other than that, we have all the music the rest of the world has and some damn great musicians as well.

I had heard movies and musical groups have to have a certain percentage of Canadians to be made or released in Canada.

I guess my sources were off a bit. The one about movies was the commentary on Harold & Kumar.

Debbie Gibson and Tiffany could sing and it would be an awesome game.

The Lions are likely to lose against the Packers, but we should expect a good effort from this 2011 Detroit team

Actually I'm gonna go against the grain and say they're going to beat the Packers.
