Hello everybody,

I'm living in Europe and I would like to organise myself some hollydays in USA to buy a Charger :patriot: :patriot: :patriot:
Some of my friend told me to go in the Carlisle event.
Is there any Mopar event on Carlisle shedule? I saw there is a Chrysler week-end on July 6 to 8.

I would like to know if you know an other good event where I can go. Personnaly I prefare to organise travel in August or September.

I hope you gonna be able to help me on this question.

Fred,

Greetings  If you are specifically going to Carlisle to buy a Charger, you might luck out however, it is a little bit of the 'ol hit-or-miss...

I was there on Sunday this past year and grabbed a pic of a bondo-beast of a 1969 Charger. Of course, top dollar was expected for the car ::)

I am sure others know of more shows and stuff, but honestly, I have yet to find much for sale (priced realistically) at a show - your results may vary

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.
I know I need some luck because if I go there and I canot find a car I will be very decepointed...
I put money on the side for the travel and car but my budget for the car will be around 20 to 25K.

Dou you think I will be able to find something nice for this price ( I hope to get a 68 Charger, auto, 440, maybe RT but not indispensable)

Where at in Europe?  We've got a few members over there who could help you out with what all is involved in bringing a car overseas.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

Here is an example of a Charger w/ an asking price of $23k  :yesnod: from Carlisle this past July

I m from Switzerland. I dont really want to go to Carlisle. I would like to find a good event to find a Charger.
If there is small event with more oportunity I'm in!
If the only car you can find on Carlisle is the one on primer for 23k I really do prefare to go anywhere else...

If you are expecting to go to an event and pick up a Charger I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment.   :Twocents:   I looked for a Charger for 2 years and was at Carlisle 2yrs running. Now I had a specific set of requirements that I was looking for which limited what I was interested in. However, there wasn't a big selection of Chargers there either year. I think each year there were 2 completed running nice examples. They were big $$ and I don't believe any sold. Not saying they were junk, just over priced in my opinion and they wanted more than I had anyhow. Just so you know I was shopping in the same price range as you.

I think you would be better off watching the for sale section of this board, monitoring craigslist.com (with something like autotempest.com) and watching ebay. It's a slow process with lots of weird and flaky sellers.

Also, there are several folks that have already been through what you have and hopefully they will chime in with some tips on how to deal with all the hassles long distance.  :yesnod:

Good luck.

Hello Bryan, thank you for your answer.

I do look at the forum every 3 or 4 days, but I'm planning to buy the car in 8-9 month so it's quite frustrating to see the car sold or for sale now...
I remember few year ago when I was in Los Angeles I saw a GTO meeting with many guys who sale spare parts, magazine and many things about GTO, even some was selling cars.

I was thinking of something like this to find a Charger...

Any idea?

Any one...? any one...?

Freddo,
If you're looking for August, I would suggest Moparfest.  Just north of Hamilton, Ontario Canada.  We go each year (from US) and while it is not as big as Carlisle, they have a decent selection in their car coral for sale.
Carlisle would be the first choice, but if not http://www.moparfest.com/
Hope to see you at one!
