Hey guys I found a 440 RB motors for my car that is dated for 67, can someone give me a quick rundown on the RB meaning and if thats car motor or truck, sorry just dont know engine codes. stamping is 2536430, thanks

dookie01

intake code is 2806178, thanks again----

Dino

2536430 is any 440 RB engine from '66-'72.  RB stands for raised block and could be car or truck.  Look for more identification on the front off the engine.  It'll show exactly when it was made.

2806178 is a 4 barrel intake from '67-'69

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

i'm no expert , but this is how i read it

  D 440     D being   =  1968 model year

 10 18  =  october the 18th

2 =  assembled on the second shift

x   = under sized crank shaft journals

think the only difference on a 440 hp &  non hp 440  , was cam & heads / smaller valves!
i'm not 100% on this :scratchchin: :popcrn:

at least thats how they would of left the factory !! no real telling who has done  & whats been done over the years

Cooter

The only difference between a 440HP and non HP engines were the Timing Chain most times was double row, windage tray, cam, valvesprings, and carb...
Basically, everything your gonna upgrade when rebuilt anyway. The Valve sizes were identical in both engines from 1968-1978.

Correct - Except the timing chain up to 69 was still a single with nylon gear even on the M Code A12's.
