Do they still make the Vega glass. I tride taking the glass out of the hatch to weld in the plug and it exploded on me.

I would think most auto glass places probably have the specs to cut a vega glass :scratchchin:

I remember seeing a lot of ads in Hemmings Motor News for vintage glass, & some stated they had glass for any make & model. I suppose I better be really careful with the hatch I have.

A couple of links I found that can offer a quote.....

I don't think the glass is flat.   It has some shape to it.   I think it would be cheaper to source another junkyard hatch versus the glass by itself.

I have a hatchback from a '72 Vega that I was planning to use.  Now I find out there are two basic versions of the Vega hatchback hatch, '71-'73 and '74-'77. Did I get the right one or is it back to the boneyard?

Aero426

I believe they both fit, but you want the one without the louvers punched in.

you can work around the louver and use metal to fill in that area , but yes the  74-77 is a much better option and easier to use

Thanks for the info. :2thumbs:  It's probably a good thing I haven't picked it up yet.  I think they had at least one of the later hatchbacks also.

If they're cheap you should consider getting both.   :Twocents:

Does the glass interchange between the two styles?

I've seen a listing for the Vega hatch window covering '71 to '77, but I'm only going by what I read & have not tried it myself. Don't leave out the other option of the Pontiac Astre hatchback, it's the same hatch as the Vega.

How do you take off the trim from a vega hatch? What is the easiest way to remove it. Your Charger to Daytona expertise is needed!

When reinstalling the trim, most guys use the palm of their hand to pop the trim back on. The best way is to use the trim removal tool and pull the clips back and push the trim into place gently and let go of the clip. No chipped paint that way.
