1968 Coranet R/T 440 4 speed black on black Dana 60...

Anyone know what this thing is worth, or how many they made?? The guy was NOT happy to talk to me, but let me take pictures. He gave the old story of "i am going to restore it some day" even though he had a 3 car garage, and this was sitting outside for what Looks to be close to 20 years. I didn't want to pop the hood and see what shape it was in, as he was already sorta not happy. He did say he purchased it new off the lot, and his sister in law trashed it. The passenger side is dented in a bit, but it all looked fixable.

That's awesome!

Cool find even though it's rough. I would love to have that. I also love the bulge hoods on a 68 coronet R/T.

Apparently not as much as the owner thinks.....but then again he must not care too much letting it succumb back to the earth.

Now that I've managed to scrape my jaw off the floor & mop up the drool... AWESOME car!!  :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:

What a combo. Well deserving of a proper resto. Not many out there like that, for sure. It would be an incredible car.
One of the hardest parts to find is the deck lid. It's one-year only, and not reproduced. Most everything else would be a cinch.

What a shame for just letting it sit & turn back to dirt.  :rotz:

I am sure this guy would rather watch it turn to dust, then let anyone else buy it from him... Oh well! It would be another awesome car for sure if restored. It looks like they only made like 1400 of these things, and I wonder how may were black on black?

There are a lot of cool cars like that sitting in Idaho. I know of a factory B5 blue HEMI auto 70 cuda sitting rusting away in Idaho. I also pulled a factory HEMI 4spd Runner out of there several years ago.

That is one of my dream cars.

Cool car indeed, but I would geuss it's worse than it appears for rust issues. :Twocents:

very neat car, looks like current tags 12??  4 spd with buddy seat, speaker fade knob f -rear?  should that of had the inland shifter beeing a 68?? 3 spoke wheel..
i would if your close by take a small floor jack and some blocks and shovel and offer to help him jack it up off the dirt to save the floor and see more bout car. sometime if you show interest in helpping save the car ,not just buy it .you can get to know the owner and build some trust and learn more bout the car.
i think suspension is ok, just has a reverse rim, turned out alittle and sunk different on that corner.check back on that great ride, how old in owner now, like 60 ta 65 if he got it young??????

Aero426

Cars like this can rarely be helped.   I have come to believe that in situations like this with an available garage, but a desireable collector car rotting outside, it approaches something of a mental illness on the part of the owner.    Obviously the guy does not want to be bothered about the car.   He must know that it has some value.     Yet it sits there sinking into the dirt.    It will probably remain there as long as he is alive.

gtx6970

no idea on a value unless it's known what the bottom side looks like, and my gut says sitting on dirt for that length time , it's not pretty.

and is probably left to be a parts car

The70RT

Lots of times owners that have these setting outside have better ones in their garages so this may just be a piece compared to the others he has.

I believe that it was around the middle of the 68 model year that Chrysler switched to Hurst shifters. Does anyone know when that actually happen?  I'm sure that there was a bulletin that was sent to the dealers announcing the change in shifters.

Cool car, but as others have said, I'd be nervous to see the thing up on a lift...

The owner reminds me of a guy I saw at a show over the weekend... Had a ratted out Challenger... TOTAL rust-bucket.. Barely made it to the show (yep, show). Everyone that walked by him, he was trying to sell the car... His pitch was "There are complete wrecks on EBay for $20k, I'll take $18k for this!".

People think the old cars (brand doesn't matter) are worth more than they are 9 out of 10 times  :brickwall:

vancamp

its twin is sitting in a field here in arkansas, owner wont let you get to close to it and told me he is not gonna sell it or restore it its gonna sit right there and rot
