I am not using the ballast on the firewall. So to get power to the dist do I spice the brown and blue wires together? One has power when key is on other has power when cranking.

Are you running an HEI dist ? if so, yes.

If not, take the power from blue wire before the ballast and keeping the ballast for the coil should be the correct thing. The dist will get some power decay through ballast while cranking like the ECU gets with original system, but still able to work. Remember the ballast is for the coil.

Remove and Splice ballast wires is only valid and safe for Multispark systems what won't heat the coil like constant sources does

if an HEI with built in coil ( and Multispark power on trigger ), I like more another trick, and is modify internally a Ballast, removing the internal resistor from the back of ceramic and solding a jumper wire on it and keep mounted the ballast, then using the original coil wire to feed the HEI dist. That will allow you to get back the instalation if needed, just replacing the ballast without any other wiring mod

do you have complete MSD ignition or just a MSD distributor with Chrysler ignition?

poppa

Just distributor.

Nacho,I got her started but had to jump to coil. After it starts it will run without the jump.
