I was looking for all new felt and am wondering is Cat whisker brand is worth $100 more than PUI?

Seems they are the only 2 companies making these parts and while I have not compared them side by side, the pics seem to show the same quality.

Has anyone ACTUALLY had these two side by side?

Not looking to hear what your buddy has or what he said, looking for actual knowledge, because looking at the pics (I know you can't tell quality from a pic), that they both seem to be good quality products

Nacho-RT74

not sure if with PUI but I have had TOP CATWISKERS in hands and compaired with the pieces I got from YR1... YES DEFINITELLY THERE IS A DIFF, however not sure if $100 diff is fair, but thats all, just a YR1 comparision, whoever is the manufacturer

I still notice even Top Catwiskers are GREAT, they are still incorrect material used in some section, like the incorrect one used to replace the tubed kind of C Pillars section

Thanks, think I am going to buy both and see if the difference is worth $100. I have a friend w/74, so I will give him the worst, well not give it to him.  ;D

Topcat brand is the only brand you want. Is it worth the difference? Well, how many times do you want to replace them? The others with the rubber lip will tear as the window is rolled up and down. Ask me how I know........

So have you or have you not used PUI?

I personally used First Place Auto Products felts. I have seen PUI's felts and they look to me to be substandard as well. I don't know anyone that has used PUI's. I know tons that have used Top Cat (including myself) and like them. I would shop around for pricing on Top Cat, there are several dealers out there. Again, are they worth the extra money? In my opinon, yes. It's as much a wearable item/functionable part as it is cosmetic.

Another vote for Top Cat.
I had the YO ones before the Top Cat's and never liked them on the Charger. Not sure who makes the YO ones.

To get back on track.

Just got the PUI felt and I do not know what you PUI haters are looking at, it  fits well and the rubber is thick and firm. Only 2 problems I have and I think it is because I got 71-72 kit, are that the outside  rear quarter glass pieces are short and the difference is that the stock has a 3/4" extension that the PUI pieces do not and the 71 car I looked at did not have that extension.
Second is that they use cheap screws to connect the trim to the door.
Guess there is a third, but it is more of me being anal, the felt is not as thick as I would prefer. I have never seen a brand new original so I am not sure if I am being fair there.
OOPS, I blamed the seller for taking his/her sweet time about shipping and found out the person ordering screwed up and did not complete the order, so I had to reorder today. Don't worry I, I mean he will get an earful for this.

Top cat is about as close as you can get to perfect.  Although mine came thru with this holes drilled for the opposite side.   As far as fitment and materials go, they are damn near exact.

I would not know, STILL have not got them, though I know shipping is slower this time of year.

jaak

I put the cheap ones in my 73 (not sure where they came from, they were included with the car with other parts)..... total junk!  Did not fit well, had to re-drill most of the screw holes because they did not match up with the original holes in the door. I got them on, but they looked like shit....all wavy looking, worst part I have ever tried to install on a car.

Used Top Cat on the 69.... fit/look a whole lot better!

Thank you Jason!  Do you have a link for the Top Cat's, I did do a google search but wasn't very helpful.

HeavyFuel

What is included if the kit is ordered?  The website doesn't tell, as far as I could see.

randy73

Topcat has 2 kits and PUI has 1.

Topcat has just the outer sweeps or both.

PUI kit comes with everything.

Well I talked to Dante's today and found out that Cat Whiskers are not in production right now, seems the company that made their rubber went out of business and are now looking for a new supplier.

Fred

Here it is again, this is where I got mine................
