The price almost dropped in half (was on in March for $250, now $135).  It's gotta sell quickly this time.

No matter how tempting an R4 Daytona is: I have to have this one re-done in it's drag racing paint.

I don't know many people with 135K lying around to spend on a car that will need another 100k in restoration :shruggy: :Twocents:

:iagree:

yeah i think so too !!
or  maybe  i once thought  just fix the rust & match & blend the paint  & just paint as little as possible  , but we all know where thats going to go !! i'll just do this  & i'll just do that !!  next thing !!  there is 20 boxes full of charger parts & an empty body shell  !!!
would be good fully restored in BigWillie paint scheme :yesnod: but then its lost its originality  :popcrn:

That would still be cool as long as it was a real Big Willy car

It would take a person with a LOT of $$$, and some very TALENTED individuals.  They only sit when there isn't the resources, or a business-like owner:  it just doesn't get done.  Body guys get sluggish, and sometimes bail if you have made the mistake of paying ahead of time.  You have to have deadlines, and a contract.

That being said:  I don't see how you could have a "capable Daytona", and have it look bad.  Other than the floor repairs it's an "able bodied" hull.  I know drag cars weren't show cars at all, but preserve the lettering, and take it back to it's "Glory Days"..!

rob-dirt

I think it would be better left alone for shure- But if you did restore the car it should look like the diecast car they have out now - just my thoughts

Charger Aficionado

Who can afford a purchase like that & not want to ENJOY it..?  Leno..?

69 DAYTONA

A damaged restorable Daytona..?  In this economy..?  Who knows...

If I recall, wasn't the Big Willy car acid dipped, or some other method used to be lightened? That may be a reason it can't be restored to it's former condition, let alone stock.  :shruggy:

The acid dipped car (King Daytona) does not exist any more.   The King and Queen Daytonas were seriously modified drag racing machines.  Both of those cars are gone.  The remaining car is the third one, much closer to stock, with the least history.

Race museum somewhere seems appropriate.......... (or groom it back into a driver  :scratchchin:)

I thought it was at 135k already, wasn't it?

Dirtybird

That's about 20 minutes from me- at a friends shop. He and I should get the pair of rust buckets out on the road together- that would be a sight to behold.
