Walkaround Narrative Video Here: http://youtu.be/VuyarnYOtfo

ALWAYS EXCEPTING OFFERS AND TRADE PROPOSALS! Call Lucas at 303.720.023four to get your questions answered and to see the car in person.

You are looking at a true treasure, unearthed last month from a shed in Eastern Colorado. This Charger was purchased new in Denver (See Skyline Dodge plaque on trunk) and had been in this shed, along with 30 other rare muscle cars for the last ten years. It was tucked in the very back corner...

This Charger is a REAL L-Code R/T Charger, meaning that it has the monster 440 cu in HP (High Performance) motor. The car also has the original striping and paint on all body panels except for the right quarterpanel, which appears to have been replaced at one point. ALL THE NUMBERS MATCH...the body numbers on the radiator support match the trunk lid and the fender tag. The fender tag decodes the charger to be exactly what it appears to be...a 440 R/T with metallic blue paint and a white vinyl top.

BODY: Body is in great shape, considering that it was found in a barn...it is very straight and the gaps are uniform. There are some dents in the rear and trunk but overall the car is in great shape. It does not appear that the car was ever hit and is original metal except for the right quarterpanel. Only bondo present is at the rear corner of the passenger door where the new quarterpanel was fitted at some point.

RUST: Yes, there is rust but it is in the right areas...meaning that the floor is 99% solid save for a spot behind the driver's seat. See the pics of the car with the seats out and the shots of the undercarriage. The trunk floor is solid but will need to be replaced. The outer edges of the trunk are solid and thus only the pan will need to be replaced. The rust on the body is mostly isolated to the right quarterpanel. There is surface rust on the hood, roof and trunk lid but this is not cancerous. Window edges for the most part are solid and not rotting. See video for walk around and narrative of rust spots. NO RUST IN THE FRAME RAILS. This is an excellent candidate for restoration...we recently restored a 1969 Charger with extensive rust so we know our Chargers!!

Drivetrain: THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION ARE NUMBERS MATCHING!! See pics for numbers that match the VIN. The car was stored with the spark plugs out of the motor and the engine will not turn, even after soaking the cylinders in WD40. The transmission will need to be rebuilt as well. The motor is complete with the exception of the air cleaner.

Car is complete except for the rear seat back and some minor parts here and there. Although shown with two sets of wheels/tires, the Charger comes with the black "turbine" wheels. The tires are relatively new and are BFGs and Firestone brands.

Congrats on buying the car
I'm currently restoring a 68 also.
From the few pics they had of the underside of the car the frame rails look solid. Grille looks to be in nice shape.
You got your work cut out for you on the body work. Do you plan on doing it yourself?
Can't believe they would store the car with the plugs out and the hood up.

I think you picked a great one.  Be prepared for hard work, but I promise it'll pay off on a car like that.  Looks solid, straight, and it's hard to beat that real, numbers-matching R/T thing.

472 R/T SE

Looks like a great start, congrats.

When you get the car, look underneath to see how they tied it down.  I see it has a flat tire so that means whatever was used to fasten it, loosened up as the tire went down.

A lot of these drivers use the holes that are on the bottom of the frame rails putting their hooks in them.  That metal isn't strong enough to be attachment points & over time will rip the holes open peeling your frame like a can opener.  DAMHIK.

Evolution69

Thank you guys

And Thank you 472 R/T SE I shall have a look once it arrives, fingers crossed should be ok, But you hear so many horror stories of when cars are being shipped it's a scary thought  :2thumbs:

UPDATE, Finally the charger makes it to my house this morning, This was a very exciteful day for me, I have never been close to a dodge charger in my life, i have seen one driving passed in the distance, but being up close was a great experience.

Even though she's bit of a shed, Everything about this car is soo cool I can't wait until tomorrow to go take a better look, Only couple of issues, Mainly first the steering has been disconnected, so both wheels turn freely, I have no clue why this was done, but was bit of a pain getting her into the garage, Secondly there are no keys with the car, Will I be able to get around this easily enough in the future?..

Lastly I can't shut the garage door as she's a big ole girl, However as she is going to be restored I will strip the front end so that hopefully will allow me to get her in from the elements, and in the future extend the garage.

I have a vw golf I got for a run around and next to the charger it looks like a dinky toy.

Just being up close to this thing was so cool, so big, built like a tank, ''They sure don't make them like they use too''

Sorry but this is my first time seeing a dodge charger, A dream come true.

Hopefully I will take better pics soon, and ask your guys help to put together a plan of action to get this car running again.

Thank you kindly for all your help and support so far.

Congrats. The pic of the tail sticking out from the garage is awesome.

Welcome to the club.  Charger ownership is something to be proud of.

HANDM

As a work around for the missing keys, you can simply unscrew the ring on the switch, pull it out and look closely till you see the pin that holds the cylinder in and push it in while prying the cylinder out...confused yet?  :D Once you have the cylinder out use a flathead screwdriver to start it..... Or just get a new cylinder with keys....  :icon_smile_big:

Great looking Charger !!   :2thumbs:

so where abouts in the UK is this beast going to be scaring the pants off the neds in their Corsa's ?

Nice! I remember the feeling when it hits you "I own a Charger". Just smiled the first month, Then came all the hard work to make it like you want it with paint, rims, engine etc, etc... I still have a long way before my idea's are finished. Hope you get to test it before the snow comes.

Thank you again.

Not trying to be an ass here but aren't concerned about vandalism with that garage?

That's why he's working on taking the front end off of it so it will fit in the garage.  He asked about it in another thread.

Ghoste

Yes, he mentioned that in this thread too, but until he gets it stripped off the rear is hanging out there isn't it?

Ghoste

I'll rephrase it.

Is vandalism not a big concern for you where you live then?

hawkeye

looks to be a bit fiddley and something no ordinary punter would try.  don't know exactly what it means but they say it on wheeler dealers all the time.

lexxman

Once the front end is off it should fit. And I bigger garage is never a bad thing either.

Dino

Awesome!  I so remember the day my first 68 arrived at my house.  To fix the garage issue, remove or leave the hood open, remove fenders, grill, valance and bumper and your car will be over a foot shorter, that should do it.

No keys, no problem.  Although a locksmith can take a blank Chrysler key and make it fit your locks, it would be easier just to buy a new set.  They're pretty cheap.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Evolution69

I had a feeling it wouldn't fit, But to be honest I just ignored it, nothing was going to stop me owning a charger, Im working on getting the front end off in my spare time, Im not to worried about vandals as its out of sight from the road up a drive, and touch wood its an ok area I live in. Would like it out of the elements though, It should be in by the weekend if all goes to plan, and ive been talking to a few local garage combines finding out about an extension, It really is a matter for a few inches.

This is england, where the normal sized cars are about half the size of a charger.

Thank you gents for your kind words / help and support
