I've got all the wiring harnesses from YearOne & I'm about to purchase a restored cluster for my '70. I read the info on the '70 headlight motor Bosch relay upgrade. There are other upgrades I've read some on but not gotten the entire upgrade info. Rewiring the headlights? Changing the voltage limiter on the cluster? Are there any more efficient lights that can be used in the cluster/marker/tail such as led? Has anyone had any experience w/a cluster restorer who's on ebay: gaugeguy2003(Collector's Choice Restorations)? Anyone have experience w/the 65amp mini alternator like Mancini has, is this unit have enough power to run electric water/fuel pumps & fans? I'm looking for all the trick/tips/upgrades to make the old 70 reliable & not melt. any info would be great.  :yesnod:

to save the hard to get headlight switch I would do the headlight relays as for the ammeter bypass itis personal preference , I have never had a problem but if you add a lot more load across the ammeter instead of shunting it with a relay before the ammeter you are asking for problems

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

myk

It's been said that not bypassing the ammeter could cause the entire planet to explode-or at least pose a risk of fire in your car..

I've been doing searches & I found some info on the voltage limiter upgrade: http://www.martinihenry.com/temp/instrumentreg/instrumentreg.html  Is this the best limiter upgrade? Are there any other upgrades that would go w/this upgrade to make the cluster even more reliable? Anyone ever use LED or other lights to replace stock ones? I still cant find the instructions on how to improve the headlight wiring.?  :icon_smile_question:
