A couple days ago a friend call and tells me he found a 69 Charger for sale. The woman wants to sell it but the husband doesn't. Yesterday he calls and says they're ready to sell and gives me the phone #. I call the woman and get the address and head over. The husband answer the door and is not happy. He says there is no car for sale and is not very friendly, so I leave. The woman calls about 2 minutes later and says the car is in her name and is for sale. She tells me she will call when he is not around and I can come back. Not sure what i'm going to do, I don't want to get caught in the middle of someones  problems. The price seems real reasonable and the car has R/T markings on it.
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

Unless you are 6 ft tall and bulletproof, I'd probably avoid that conflict...

...but since I am, send me the details. Cheers!

I don't want to get caught in the middle of someones  problems.

Too late, you are now knee deep in their problem.

Choices: a three way, a shotgun, or buy it in the divorce settlement.

All I can say is bring backup if you go to pick it up... Obviously not a situation you want to walk into alone.

chargermike

Uhhhhhh, anybody missing an important point?

The title is in whose name?

...and how would you married people like your wife selling off your garage paperweight?

That's a huge thing, for me.. We can all give "buy it and run" advice.. But what if it were one of us?? The situation itself kind of sucks.

The "woman" here told the potential buyer that the car is in HER name...

TK73

I reread the original post and still missed who had the title...

Fair game if it is her car...

As for who is PHYSICALLY HOLDING the title, well that's different...

I not going to get my hopes up for 2 reasons. 1: I haven't heard anything today from her.  2:  I not sure I want to get caught up in there nonsense. I agree, I would be very upset If my wife was trying to sell something I really wanted just because she can!

If she owns it and wants to sell it, it's fair game.

Call her back, set something up, bring cash, and a trailer or a

rollback. Bring the law with you if you can, and get it.

If you don't, somebody else will...

I'm 6'4" mean and ugly...

It would already be mine...

Brock Lee

This is similar to how I acquired my car. The wife was on the husbands case because he wasn't doing anything to it. By this time he had owned the car 20 years and it sat in the garage around 13 of them. At the 20 year mark she started nagging him, and he didn't want to budge, but she wore him down and he reluctantly caved. We kept in touch for a while. I told him I would let him drive it whenever he wanted, but we lived a considerable distance apart. When the whole Dukes of Hazzard thing put a spotlight on these cars in 2005, he was seeing the inflated values the media was pushing and he became very bitter and stopped talking to me. He felt like he would be better of just severing all ties to the car.

This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

surmanajaja

if my wife sold my car I would never forgive her. yeah I havent driven it in 14 years, except one time, and its not in driving condition anymore but its my 1st car and I will never sell it (not a charger)... I dont know what I would do in your situation..if the car is cheap and she has a title in her hand, probably I would buy it and run.

68coronetGLwannabe

Still haven't heard from her. I will wait a few more days and maybe give her a call.   :popcrn:

Black Charger

Maybe it was never the husband's car to begin with. It's possible that the husband simply has taken a liking to his wife's Charger and is trying hard to talk her into keeping it. If that is the case, I say you have every right to buy that car regardless of how he feels about it. As others have said, I would definitely not go alone when/if you do get to go and pick it up.

ChgrSteve67

Run down to the costume store and get a milk man disguise.

he might not be as mad if he thinks your banging his wife instead of taking the car.
